Was looking at Process Explorer (Procexp) in the Sysinternals suite, because it looks like it'll help me do something I've actually wanted to do for a few months, view the command line params passed to an executable that launches and exits quickly. Aaaaand... it's not accessible. I absolutely love being blind. It never, ever cockblocks me, ever.

I've noticed that quite a few people I interact with recently seem to get slightly uncomfortable when they use seeing-related phrases around me, or when I use them. If you're not sure about this yourself, I'd argue please continue doing so. See you later, or let's see, or I'll take a look, in my opinion, are perfectly normal expressions to use and I also use them a lot. I'm not sure what good alternatives would look like (hehe) that don't sound forced or unnatural. It's really fine.

@talon On the flipside, I've noticed words/phrases with 'blind' in them seem to be rubbing people up the wrong way lately. 'Turn a blind eye', 'going in blind', etc. The word 'blind' doesn't just mean without eyesight, it also means without awareness, regard or knowledge. 'Why are we, so blind to see, that the ones we hurt, are you and me'. To open your eyes to something means to become aware of it. 'I've been sleeping a thousand years, it seems. Got to open my eyes to everything'.

I wonder why everyone in blindland seems to be getting the 15 Pro Max this year. Or rather, anyone who is getting a new phone seems to be getting the Pro Max. I did because people on Reddit said it felt lighter and nicer in their hands than the previous pro max phones. They were right; I've had it for half a day and it doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. I mostly forget I'm holding a new phone until I think about it.

Let's all have a moment of silence for the final death of my iPhone 6.
I bought it several years ago for ~$50 with the intention of giving it to my neighbour to replace his iPhone 5, and not long after, it stopped connecting to cellular networks at all. So, for lack of a better idea, I stuck it to the wall of my bedroom and have been using it as an alarm clock ever since. It has the unique but vital combination: I can set it with my voice, but I can't stop it with my voice.
Today I returned home to find the battery swelling up, as they do. The screen is very noticeably pushed away from the middle of the frame. Replacing the battery on this phone would probably cost more than I paid for the phone, and that's hardly worthwhile when it's stuck on iOS 12 and has no cell coverage. I'm worried it might be a fire hazard while charging, so I'm not going to give it away or keep using it as-is. I'll let it discharge and find a way to recycle it.
Meanwhile, I need a loud alarm clock that I can set accessibly (whether by voice or with buttons) and that won't just stop ringing after 30 seconds or a minute. If I don't have to get out of bed to turn it off, it's not a real alarm clock.
I might just have to connect a speaker to a raspberry pi and invent my own solution.
Thinking again about how easy it would be to port Steve's Clock to ARM Linux and have a little pi in a box with programmable buttons.

@simon July 4th, 2021. My beast of an iPhone 5s decided it no longer wanted to charge, so I had to pronounce it dead after 8 years of use and abuse.

I just discovered another pronunciation bug. Eloquence can't pronounce 'resistor' or 'resistors' right. It sounds like 'rezzister', where the ee sound is pronounced like eh as in 'head'. iOS 17.1.1 @BTyson
