Jings, it's a rough old week. #StormIsha barely by with, and here's #StormJessica rolling in. I've candles lit at 16:30, but there's no help for it; I cannae see ocht in the house without.
#Cycling in #StormIsha was fun. To work, there was a very strong #Headwind which added about 25% to the time getting there, at least the sky was blue. By the time I’d finished, the #wind had died down to a brisk #Breeze but there was quite heavy #rain. However, I always have my #WaterproofTrousers at this time of year and so I didn’t get wet.
Well, it transpires I got off more lightly in #StormIsha than I'd expected. The mains power (for those who have it) is out for miles, and the road through to Kirkcudbright is closed. I'm told that Kirkcudbright is completely cut off by road, but not sure I believe that.
TWO named storms in a week?
Well the last thing our masters want is us proles asking questions about all this weather, best ignore the elephant in the room, it's the British thing to do.
Never really approved of sending journalists out in bad weather to show that the weather is bad, so using videos people post online from their existing surveillance cameras makes sense. But sorry, someone's garden furniture moving across their garden is not a "dramatic video". I'm not sure who needs to know that, but someone definitely does. smh #stormIsha#UKWeather
Correlation of pressure and wind as #StormIsha passed through last night. Also interesting how the wind swung to the west quickly, then slowly starts backing after the pressure climbs again
Last year my apple tree saplings were badly damaged in the winter storms. I've got hedging cuttings in, which will eventually help protect them to some extent, but I came up with this as an interim solution. I was worried #StormIsha might blow the whole thing over and take the tree right out, but I've just done early torchlight check, and they appear to have survived the night #Gardening
How is everyone after last night's and this morning's #StormIsha ?
It was a real slate-rattler for us, so a very noisy, disturbed night. We'll check for damage once it gets light.
We had a gust of 78 mph at 01:53 and the pressure dropped to 949.6 hPa at 00:41
But most rain really preceded the wind event.
We see the east coast had a red weather warning* for a while. Hope Fedizens there are OK

#ClimateDiary Another morning of checking travel information; i am only travelling in later and I think #Sussex is not quite so badly hit by #StormIsha; but if I don’t make it to my lecture it will be the third time this academic year due to storms. All this travel disruption is more and more part of our “new abnormal”, to quote Mann. Ninth named storm since September. #ClimateEmergency
The night of #StormArwen, I went to sleep fully dressed, thinking I might have to abandon the house if things got too rough. And then slept through half the wood blowing down...
I'm going properly to bed tonight. #StormIsha doesn't frighten me ...
Storm Isha is going to hit the UK this evening. The ninth named storm to hit since September. Winds expected of about 90kmph…basically everywhere, but some will be stronger.
All travel is starting to shut down this evening. Here’s what I think about - this extreme weather is just going to become more common. And we’re not prepared for it.
@gpshewan 137km/h at the nearest weather station, which is down in the valley below me, so rather more here on the hilltop – well into #hurricane force.
