One of the things that the Stack Overflow brouhaha demonstrates is that it doesn’t matter if a service was founded by people trusted by the community (Atwood and Spolsky) and was broadly community-led. If it’s a VC-funded startup, they will sell out their users at some point.
Looks like 16.9 GiB for stackoverflow.com.sqlite.br (16.9GiB) and roughly 6 GiB for the rest. Maybe people running #SearXNG instances could add searches on data dumps like these?
Ich hoste mit #Yunohost meine eigenen Dienste. Darunter z.b.
running a #SearXNG docker takes so much ram!
like around 600MB! and out of my 2gb ram #RaspberryPi that's a ton.
I also run a Nextcloud docker and that's around 260MB.
(both when idle).
might have to find an alternative.
Tho at this point, coming from my home WiFi, it doesn't give all that much more privacy since I keep the same IP address.
I am trying to come up with a #domain for my #searxng instance because having it just as a subdomain feels kinda meh. I wish there was a .find or .search or something...
I'm really disappointed with DuckDuckGo lately. It has been enshittified by adding the new AI feature and search quality has been deteriorated, so I don't trust them anymore. I'm thinking of switching to searXNG, but I'm not interested in self-hosting. So looking for trustworthy public instance which has strict no-log policy, any suggestions?
What’s everyone’s favorite self-hosted metasearch engine? I was using #SearX, but it’s no longer maintained. Thinking of moving over to #SearXNG? Any reason not to? Not sure why NG split off from SearX other than internal disputes (I think).
