"When that old order fell, it took the form of a well-earned landslide, and a clear step towards something genuinely new. After a decade and a half, the Bute House Agreement breathed new life into those fading hopes. Now it seems more likely that real change will come crawling out of a tomb, in a faded red rosette"
What possesses the @ScottishGreens to join Douglas Ross' anti-Scottish motion? This is an act of political naivety and immaturity.
Is it sour grapes that lets them put Scotland's future at risk? @patrickharvie and @lornaslater must know that neither Labour nor the Tories support their Green agenda.
They are throwing away Scotland's future in a wee tantrum. #ScottishGreens#PatrickHarvie#LornaSlater#SNP
Many young trans people are rightly concerned about the effect of the decision by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to pause puberty blockers on their healthcare journey.
This afternoon the Minister for Public Health, Jenni Minto, laid out the work that the Scottish Government is doing to resolve the situation and to respond to the recent Cass report.
Alba lodge no confidence motion in Greens' co-leader Patrick Harvie
Should it be backed by 25 other MSPs, it will lead to a vote on whether MSPs have confidence in the Minister...
[Ash] Regan says she has called for the vote in Harvie after he “sided with ideology over evidence after NHS clinicians paused puberty blockers at Sandyford, in line with the Cass review”.
Scottish Green Minister for Tenants' Rights @patrickharvie
has just published our New Deal for Tenants!
This new bill will introduce:
💰 Long-term rent controls
🎨 Right to decorate
🐶 Right to keep pets
🏡 Stronger eviction rights
🧑⚖️ More homelessness support
Support for Scottish independence reportedly hits a record level of 58%.
How to turn that into action when the biggest of the pro-independence parties is losing electoral ground? There are popular majorities for many things that will likely never see the light of day.
700,000 young people across Scotland have taken 100 million free bus journeys
It is because of every single person who has supported the Scottish Greens and allowed us to introduce such a groundbreaking and transformative policy.
This morning I was delighted to join the Transport Minister, Fiona Hyslop, in Edinburgh to celebrate this crucial landmark and the vital impact it is having in communities across Scotland.
This morning the Scottish Government launched a new whitepaper to set a spotlight on how, with independence, we can build a fairer system and scrap the cruel two-child cap.
One of the ways we could deliver this is through a Universal Basic Income, a policy championed by Greens and designed to deliver humanity and equality which has now entered the mainstream.
Humza Yousaf hails 'rededication to independence' at Edinburgh rally
HUMZA Yousaf hailed the Yes movement’s “rededication to the cause of independence” as thousands turned out to the Edinburgh march and rally.
The First Minister told The National the number of people who attended the event, hosted by Believe in Scotland and Yes for EU, was “above” his expectations following his speech. https://www.thenational.scot/news/23763837.humza-yousaf-hails-rededication-independence-edinburgh-rally/
Shettleston councillor Thomas Kerr steps into the ring, fresh from all the crying about his constituents being anti-English (which went down just as well as you'd imagine). Seems certain at this point Labour will take the seat but the pre-emptive crowing about the rest seems misguided. Justified resentment of one SNP MP is not likely to carry Labour through in other places. And if they don't get the seat it would be genuinely funny, at least.
Tweet from the turncoat Thomas Kerr: "The SNP's Gender Reform Bill risks the safety of women across Scotland. Despite opposition from their own voters, Labour’s candidate in Rutherglen & Hamilton West backs this flawed bill. If voters want an alternative to this cosy alliance, then @ScotTories are offering it." There's a picture of a news article about Michael Shanks (I bet he does) at the bottom.
I’m grateful for the Scottish Green Party’s place in the Scottish Government meaning that an end to LGBT+ conversion practices is in sight
(I didn’t say LGBTQIA+ because I don’t know for sure where the less-talked-about sexualities and gender identities will fit, nor whether this will have any effect on forced surgery for intersex children)
"More than 300 racing greyhounds died last year in the UK and 4,354 injuries to dogs were recorded, according to new data.
Scottish Greens MSP Mark Ruskell, who has been campaigning for a phase out of greyhound racing, described the number of greyhounds dying at racetracks as “shocking”."
