If you haven't been paying attention, It has been only barely 3 days since #Pebble closed its doors and many are moving to the #Fediverse and settling in over at https://pebble.social.
However, prior to that, when the announcement of the shutdown was first made, the first thing that happened was the creation and marketing of the hashtag #T2pub. The purpose of the hashtag was to make it easier to discover content from former #PebbleIs users, regardless of where in the fediverse you are located.
A few days later, the @t2pub was born. It is a fediverse #group. Anyone who is following the group is guaranteed to receive the latest T2pub group content shared by other users. As compared to the hashtag, it relies heavily on if the user was already discovered by an account's local instance.
Finally, pebble.social was born; and former Pebble users who migrated earlier to the Fediverse are moving to it.
Now, this is interesting because there is now a growing sub-community within the Fediverse network. Former #T2social users who primarily wish to interact with fellow former #T2 users; while, at the same time, keeping the lines open for interaction with the wider fediverse.
If we look at it from a #SciFi or #Fantasy or #ScienceFantasy perspective, if different star systems (for example Sol System) are the software, and the different planets (for example Planet Mars) are the instances; we've just witnessed migrants from the “Pebble Universe” after it collapsed.
These migrants found a planet of their own and called is Pebble.Social which is located in the Mastodon star system.
And those who landed on other planets are relocating to the Pebble.social Planet; however, as they are still settling in this new world and new universe, they are still primarily concerned on their own planet. Building it up. Setting up their communities.
I #AmWriting again for the first time in over a month.
Unfortunately, I had gotten stalled with my most recent project, Spiral Architect. I couldn't get away from the realization that this was basically backstory for a story I could be telling instead, and once I got there I couldn't bring myself to give a shit about the project any longer.
Instead, I'm revisiting a project that had gotten stalled in 2021 when I had learned that my late father had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer: When You Don't See Me. I was over 75,000 words into the project when I had gotten interrupted, and you know what? It's pretty fucking solid even though Christabel's confession needs more work, Naomi's story is half-finished at best, and Morgan's is barely started. It might be worthwhile to show their confrontation with Isaac Magnin from Magnin's viewpoint, too. I haven't really written anything new tonight, though. I'm just going through the old material to refamiliarize myself with it and decide on what needs to be changed.
"A year after the breakup of Crowley's Thoth, its members meet on the night of the Winter Solstice to figure out how it all went wrong, only to learn that the truth sets no one free."
50+ years on, Ursula #LeGuin's #ScienceFantasy stories continue to inspire. Many academics, in particular, credit her writing's acuteness on growing up in a household of anthropologists. It's often said her work also grapples with #anthropology's problematic (post)colonial past & present.
This #podcast is more specific about her family's professional implication in California colonial anthropology, and how this might have shaped her work.
Aiah has fought her way from poverty and discovered a limitless source of power for her world-city. A charismatic revolutionary seizes the opportunity.
A spectacular blend of fantastic science, high politics, and low intrigue.
I maintain a personal website and blog at <starbreaker.org/>, and all of my fiction is available for free there.
A decade ago I published Without Bloodshed, which sold well enough to complicate my tax returns for a couple of years thanks to a modest following I had on Google+. A few years later I published Silent Clarion, which bombed. Probably my own damn fault.
I'm working on another novel called Spiral Architect in the same setting with the same cast, and most of my responses to #WritingWonders and #PennedPossiblities will be based on that #WIP.
I'm not big on following people just because they've followed me so I'm not a good fit for your #WritingCommunity, but if you follow me, and then actually interact with me I'll probably follow you back.
I finally feel like I've settled here, and I'm really enjoying my time here so far 🥰 I will post about my pre-apocalyptic, science fantasy, philosophical make-your-own-adventure RPG here. Beyond gamedev and philosophy my special interests are psychology, neuroscience and (genuine) artificial intelligence.
