#WordWeavers: How would your MC handle finding a spider in their home?

Marissa’s cat would likely find and end it before she found it. But if she did find it, she’d safely relocate it outdoors.

Dante would likely squish it, unless it was a wolf spider, lol.

Caylor, a ghost, would wait until he had a day with lots of strength and the briefly become physical and relocate it outside. He wants a clean house, but he’s not quick to kill.

Jumhaeg would analysis the spider to see if it was in his genetic repository for arachnids before deciding whether or not to absorb it for later replication.

Erebus would gently capture the wayward spider and return it to the outdoors because their home doesn't have good prey options.

Damian, who is terrified of creepy crawlies would kill it; keeping knowledge of the deed a secret otherwise Erebus would be sad.

#WordWeavers: Is your antagonist more of a dragon or dragon rider?

Because my WIP is a cozy paranormal, there’s not a clear antagonist. I suppose the closest to it would be the town’s only vampire, Sunny. He’s more of a dragon rider, because he wouldn’t go into battle alone, and he craves social interactions. He’s also got no attachment to stuff, so no hoarding tendencies.

#WordWeavers: Do you consider how your MCs appearance may contribute to stereotypes?

Yes. Not only their appearance but their personality and hobbies and such as well. I’m playing with inverting paranormal stereotypes a bit in this book, but even though they’re paranormal beings, Im being very careful about stereotypes, and doing it in a way that’s not offensive. Well, the vampires might be a bit offended in the first half, but I make it up to them.

#WordWeavers: How do you settle on your MC’s appearance?

This is usually the last thing I know about a character when writing. I’m bad at noticing how people look in real life too, lol. I can feel how my MCs move & how others view them/interact. That gives clues. Sometimes they’ll describe themselves, but even then, I have trouble picturing them. My brain doesn’t work that way. For instance, I knew Girak was out of shape because he has to catch his breath, & Savas makes fun of his red hair.

Marissa would be interested, but she’d want to touch everything and probably get herself in trouble.

Dante likely would be bored to tears unless it were a museum of natural history. He likes ancient predators.

Caylor would be thrilled to magically be out of his house and would probably run around and test his limits as a ghost. He’d also be tempted to pull a few pranks on the other visitors.

#WordWeavers: Who are your most and least gullible characters?

I haven’t thought of my characters in these terms. Caylor, being a somewhat isolated ghost might be the most gullible, with human Marissa as the least gullible. I’d put Dante in the middle, but more less gullible than gullible. However, Caylor is the one doing the pranks, so what do I know?😂😂

Caylor: He’s a ghost trapped in his house, so nope.

#WordWeavers: How much of an age range do you have with your MCs?

I have two WIP, a YA/A crossover novel and an adult novel.

The Ruined has 7 POV characters, ages: 15,16, 17, 17, 18, and 42.

Werewolves, Chocolate, & Pigeons has 3 POV MCs. Still working out details, but I believe they are 54, 55, and a 70 yo werewolf (they live to ~400 years old in this world.)

#WordWeavers: What personal expertise of yours makes it into your books?

I have a lot of knowledge that I don’t usually share online because of backlash, but I’m feeling brave, so here goes:

-working with ghosts and spirits
-altered states of conciousness (not drug-driven)
-nonviolence
-conflict resolution
-Indigenous healing and western “energy work”
-connecting with nature
-laboratory scientific research

(All of these are in my future ice age series, and most are in my other books/WIP.)

Marissa (human) is a mix, but a bit more of a thinker and planner.

Caylor( ghost) plans EVERYTHING.

Dante (werewolf) is a bit of both, but leans more toward spontaneity.

#WordWeavers: How much power does your MC have?

Marissa is human in a paranormal world, but has a lot more power than she realizes. Not through untapped superpowers, but by really listening to people and intuitively knowing what they need. Her ability to build connections with others sort of saves the whole town.
