St. Louis' STILL ANIMALS released their first self-titled LP today, and I've been waiting to hear all of this one after stumbling across them a couple months back and loving their demo.
After just listening to the whole thing, I can confirm, amazing catchy, solid garage rock songs front to back. Easily one of my favorite records of 2024 so far. Need to give this one a LOT more listens, but it's a perfect album for Bandcamp Friday - check it out!
So who's into rough, raunchy garage synth punk? Just discovered this band called Achterlicht from the Netherlands and they totally rip. They appear to be really young dudes, but they have this shit DOWN. They've put out TWO demos this year, and both are full of fantastic songs and are full listens for me. I just went through both, no skips. How rare is that! And they're quick listens too, only 11 songs total, none over 3 minutes.
I don’t know why I like to rank discographies so much but here is my Motörhead ranking. Not pictured are 21. Snake Bite Love and 22. Hammered. #Metal#RockNRoll
Please enjoy this #music playlist - filled with #Vietnamese#RockNRoll songs from 1968-1974. There was always a huge music scene in #Saigon & wartime didn't stop the musicians. More songs were inspired from the horrors of war. Bands kept performing wherever they could. My big Auntie told me about music jams in tunnels by resistance musicians too.
Music kept people going, when bombs kept falling. Music helped people survive war horrors.
This older live album of the Blue Oyster Cult has four songs I wrote the lyrics for, The Cold Gray Light of Dawn, Demon's Kiss, Power Underneath Despair, and an apocalyptic number, the Horsemen Arrive. It's a good live album altogether. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaZ90t0Txmc
Speaking of Blue Oyster Cult here is a song on their newest album. The lyrics are intricate (Okay, I wrote the lyrics, so sue me), yet Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser renders them beautifully, as well as the song writing and guitar work here... The song is a story about a tryst in a magical dream that comes true in the barren wastes of the suburbs...
