You bring up an interesting point. I have been discussing this issue for about a year now, first on the DeadBirdSite, then here.

In a nutshell: #AmericaFirst never was punished nor disbanded. They lost in the polls. People forgot. In 1971, Big Busines joined the bandwaggon with their strategy paper. #Reagonomics carried out the strategy agains the "left", i.e. students that increasingly voted Dem.

You don't know my piece on #Reagonomics 1) , but absolutely!

And I believed this until recently. Then I got into a discussion with some who really did studies in that field. And we found out it goes way further back. 1930s/1940s. 2)
I am not sure if the convo is still available, if so I'll post it.

This week Biden forgave federal student debt for 804,000 borrowers. A judge upheld the decision—proving yet again that Biden has authority to cancel student debt.

Furthermore—if we can bail out Wall Street with $10T & cancel $2.1T in billionaire taxes & cancel $800B in PPP loans—then we can cancel $1.7T in predatory student loans.

We've bailed out corporations and billionaires long enough. Let's elevate working people.

And when she tried to join the Fediverse, she was greeted with a barrage of hate, sexism, racism, and anti-semitism that should have never been allowed to happen.

So now no one on Fediverse gets to interact with her directly about her work on here. Our loss. 😢

Which is why we'll make it so that this type of terrible welcome is unlikely to happen again. Allowing it to happen to her was a choice. We will make better ones.

Want to know why America is losing its edge? Look around campus.

Some 2.5 million fewer Americans are enrolled in college than in 2011, and the decline is accelerating. The college-going rate of high school graduates has dropped from 70 percent in 2016 to 62 percent in 2022, and if this trend continues, a group of young Americans will — for the first time in our history — enter the workforce with less education than the one before.

And if you think that the 2.5 million fewer college students is a secondary effect, think again. It is all part of #Reagonomics:

It is an open secret that #QLoon and most of the other #US #billionaires do not want to go back to the 20th century income-tax rates of 60 to 90, topped with a wealth tax at times.

#Reagonomics kept people in poverty, busy earning a living. Educated people do not tend to vote for the #GQP, which secures low tax rates for them.

There’s a shocking parallel between today’s Republican anti-abortion movement and the witch hunts of the 17th century. It has to do with both economics and political competition and is all about men achieving power on the backs of women.

According to the current list of #bannedbooks as collected by #PEN, the Frisco Independent School District in #Texas has apparently banned #TheLordOfTheRings and #TheHobbit by #JRRTolkien.

It’s a mind boggling assembly of works and authors on this list. Aside from brilliant fiction like Tolkien and @neilhimself, the list includes names like #StephenHawking or #MartinLutherKingJr.
