Little MDMRN (turning 15 in May) has gotten into cassettes lately. My parent's got them, effectively, a Walkman with a built in speaker. They've been blasting their one cassette, Tally Hall's "Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum" for a while.
I ordered them the Celeste soundtrack on cassette. I told them about it because it was supposedly 3 weeks out.
It's already shipping. They'll get it in less than a week from when I ordered it.
#Funimation is automatically moving everyone over to #Crunchyroll, however, "Crunchyroll won’t support the digital copies redeemed through Funimation." #Anime#PhysicalMedia
Just started season 1 of the new Night Court. Man, they really nailed the soul of that sitcom! I'm only two episodes in but they really seem to "get" it. Can't wait to finish this season, and I can't wait for the next season to come to my local library! (Get your media from your local library, folks!)
I think the reason I only care about physical music, versus any other medium is that music doesn't have any other sensory input but sound.
For example, you play a video game, you have sound, you have touch through the mouse/keyboard or controller, you have visuals. A movie/show is similar you have multiple senses working at once
But music only has sound, aside from MVs. So to be able to hold an album in your hands, put it into its player look at the cover. that is the other sensory inputs. holding that vinyl is as much a part of the music as the music itself. Rewinding a cassette feels give you that feel. Looking at the art of a cd foldout builds the world.
Back when it was just called Raiders. Also this is like... new????? It still has a seal with the paramount logo to prevent the VHS from slipping out. Wild to think I'll be the first to watch this copy and got it for only a dollar.

Despite The Vinyl Hype, CDs Remain King Of Physical Media In The UK
They continue to outsell vinyl significantly.
"The ARChive of Contemporary Music has one of the largest collections of vinyl records in the world and is in danger of losing its home. Its champions are making a case for the future of physical media."
Housing one of the most extensive vinyl collections globally, the ARChive of Contemporary Music is under threat of losing its New York City home. This has ignited a passionate defense of physical media's cultural significance.
I've been encouraging folks to buy physical copies of their movies through that other social media site everyone uses who isn’t a nerd, and I am getting a lot of “I can’t find them” responses.
To answer that, and as part of #100DaysToOffload , I'm sharing where I source my collection from.
There is currently a resurgence in the popularity of Blu-ray and DVDs. This renewed interest in physical media is primarily driven by factors such as ownership, increased availability, and the desire for premium experiences.
Digital purchases can be vulnerable to sudden removal without prior notice. This means that even if you have bought a digital copy, it can still be taken down from the streaming service.
My iTunes copy of Aliens was updated to the new #4K remaster and I'm so disappointed. They scrubbed it of all that beautiful grain and made it unnaturally sharp. I loved the grainy grittiness of Aliens. Left is my #BluRay copy, right is iTunes.
Sometimes it's nice that iTunes updates your movies to the latest version for free, but there's no way to go back to the version you originally bought. Luckily I still have my #BluRay with all the beautiful grain. And that's one of the reasons why I still love #PhysicalMedia.
Just a few days ago, I found myself reminiscing about the unique freedom that comes with physically owning a movie. I had a sudden urge to rewatch an old favorite, but to my dismay, none of the streaming services I subscribe to offered it. That's when I remembered the DVD I had purchased years ago. Dusting off my old player, I enjoyed the film without any hitches. This experience reminded me that the liberty of owning a piece of art in its physical form is unparalleled. Subscription and streaming services, often geared towards quick and disposable content consumption, can't match the enduring value of a tangible collection.
I'm currently watching one of the most underrated films by the great #davidlynch Lost Highway, which as a #physicalmedia collector of course I own. I remember the first time I watched this movie I was like in my late teens and blown away by how tremendous a performance Robert Loggia gives, stealing every scene, because growing up in the 90s and 00s I mostly only knew him for basic cable commercials preying on older people. He is so good though. #cinema#cinemastodon
As streaming replaces physical media, don't assume movies and shows you 'buy' will remain bought. They can disappear from the platform, or the platform itself can disappear.
I absolutely love #physicalmedia , I love having my shelves full of DVDs and BDs with the knowledge that none of the content on these discs can be taken away due to rights issues or companies just not wanting to pay residuals to the actors, writers, etc.
Another Black Friday package has arrived. I rarely buy #dvd these days but this one is worth it. A chilling and funny doc about the nuclear waste storage built in #Finland. And its been a long time since I saw #PoliceSquad so looking forward to revisit it. #PhysicalMedia#bluray
My birthday presents got here early! I think I’m going to watch Black Sunday first and try and spot my friend as one of the blimp crew members. #physicalmedia#bluray
