I’m trying to run “Debug” (for step-debugging with ) in while running a test. I do this all the time with standard tests, and I’ve never had this problem…

The test runner stops immediately, and PhpStorm reports in the debug console, “Test framework quit unexpectedly.”

Has anyone else seen this error? Do you know what causes it?

TIL that although it’s been around for at least 5 versions of #laravel, we can do this:

if (App::runningUnitTests()) {
 // Code to include in only tests
}

if (!App::runningUnitTests()) {
 // Code to exclude in tests
}

when running tests. Works in #Pest as well, of course.

And to start of Monday, we have "This database engine does not support fulltext search operations.” when running local tests in sqlite, even though we have verified that fts5 is enabled.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Is it Friday yet?

What if? They are just here for the cantaloupe?

I swear, we're someone else's drop-off point? I've really lost count. I think it's 7 and one raccoon.

failure so far this year: invested in bait stations in an attempt to reduce ant damage to fruit trees/etc. (and the occasional bee swarm that lands here). The here refuse to take the bait... I think too many other food sources in my yard.

Wanted to get some low hanging fruit tickets done for Questlog. Well I also decided to create more robust testing and now I finished the first task after 3 minutes and fighting Pest for 27 minutes now.

Why in all seven hells is Game::factory()->count(5)->create(); not creating 5 games? It's always 2 or 3. Never 5. This is absolutely infuriating…

I just wanted to get my list shorter and don't break stuff while I do.

The fun part? Also creating all 5 games manually fails. Without any log or something like that…

Oof. This was a really stupid error… My factory generated games with different categories. Main Game, DLC/AddOn and Expansion.

But the view I was testing filtered games by Main Game only… So by chance it was extremely unlikely that every game is a Main Game and so the count never was 5.

If feel really dumb right now.

Anyone have an idea what is digging divots in our front lawn? These holes are everywhere. It looks like a dog did it, but it's only our front yard, no neighboring yards. Back yard is unaffected. The strip on the other side of the driveway is also untouched.

Hello #PlantParents! My #Tradescantia has some kind of #Pest going on. I don't think #MealyBugs, as whatever they are are too tiny, and don't match in appearance to images I've seen.
They really are tiny bugs, less than 1mm. Light in colour, and have set up home on the leaves, close to the stem (is this the node??) There is a very fine web like structure, with white dust, but I don't think it's general dust - bigger, whiter particles than original household dust. Continued in reply toot...

New plugin for to give you type coverage right in Pest. Simply composer require pestphp/pest-plugin-type-coverage —dev and then run Pest with pest —type-coverage -min=100 Perhaps you won’t need or anymore.

In my TL people wrote about "this #pest XY" and what to do to kill it at once. I never read: We must #transform our agricultural system / we have the problem because Homo sapiens destroyed the natural balance, the pest's natural enemies, and accelerates #ClimateCrisis even worse (#species migration).
In the USA, #gophers are/were regarded as a pest, but #scientists found out that they help #wildlife #gardening and #conservation: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-07-when-gardeners-run-wild-part-1/id1630784381?i=1000606747381

Is there a reason other than syntactic sugar to choose over @phpunit? Or is the hype limited to the folks anyway?

Gargh, I got really used to Laravel Dusk letting me write super simple browser testing tests with / but now I need that kinda test in a non-Laravel project.

I guess my best bet is straight up Selenium? :/

Are there examples of getting pretty output from for custom assertions?

Projects like prove you can do a lot with phpunit’s output. I’m hoping it doesn’t take that much work to hook into correctly displaying information when an assertion fails, though.

So, two questions:

If I write a custom assertion, can I be creative with how failures display?

Can I hook into the built-in assertions and conditionally tweak their display?

Solid and creative examples welcome. :)
