Day 39 of #Running recovery break. Lovely crisp morning (4°C) for 25 KM of #Cycling around #Ottawa.
My activities specifically avoid roads so I don't have to deal with traffic, but there's one section where the Rideau Canal Eastern Pathway dumps users onto Sussex at Wellington/Rideau, so I go down Sussex in the bike lane once it appears. Imagine my surprise when construction blocked the bike lane and a pickup truck yielded and let me into traffic. It's never happened before. Thanks!
Lovely day for a bike about #ottawa, only one car tried to overtake and immediately cut me off - ironically because the road ahead was closed to cars but not bikes 🚴
A good 4.5km walk today, through Hampton Park and along Byron to Churchill.
Man, our city street & feature naming people had an unhealthy obsession with all things British. It's a bit ridiculous when you see it on paper, or in pixels.
In the Rideau river yesterday. Got some nice pictures of this guy. Too stubborn to jump in the water when we got close. Serious turtle side eye. #canoeing#turtle#ottawa
Day 38 of #Running recovery break. Today was a 12km #walk through #Ottawa. The greenery is really popping after the rain. Nice and cool morning makes me really appreciate the weather. Must have said good morning twenty times today, including chatting with two "regulars”.
Norway to roll back electric vehicle incentives to induce behaviour changes, motivate people to leave their private vehicle at home in favour of walking, cycling, public transit. #FewerCars#LessDriving#OttBike#VisionZero#Ottawa
Hey #ottawa, I can't find any confirmation online about whether meter parking is free on holiday weekends or not. The @PayByPhone
machine says free Sat/Sun and see http://ottawa.ca for more information (a useless endeavor).
Day 37 of #Running recovery break. 54 Km of #Cycling around #Ottawa, with a break for brunch around KM 24 in New Edinburgh, then biked some more with @TAV for another 30km. Nice way to spend a morning/early afternoon before the rain.
Anybody been to the #Ottawa#Lansdowne market this morning? Wondering if the parking garage is full. Planning to get more plants than we can fit on the bike, but worried about extra traffic for the #TulipFestival
Streak over. After 16 consecutive May days with <1mm of precipitation in #Ottawa, there was 14.1mm of precipitation yesterday. We made it to 8th place, only 4 days behind the record. #OttWeather
Day 36 of #Running recovery break. 26KM of #Cycling in the spring rain here in #Ottawa; plenty of folks out enjoying the MUPs (Multi-Use-Pathways). You can really smell spring during the rain.
Friday's 26km #Cycling around #Ottawa; Across the MacDonal Cartier Bridge, through Jacques-Cartier Park, along the north shore of the Ottawa River, then across the Portage Bridge, onto the Ottawa River Pathway, then south onto the Trillium Pathway, past Dow’s Lake, through the Arboretum, across the Hartwell Locks, to Hog’s Back, then turning north onto the Rideau River Eastern Pathway all the way to Rideau Falls, then back into Bordeleau Park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fungrECKmw
#MyersBriggs#PersonalityTests is popular and that is about the only thing it has going for it. In reality it is no better than rolling die and assigning people a personality profile based on the die roll.
Carl Jung's ideas are at the base of the test. Unfortunately Jung's work has never been empirically tested. Hint when your base level construct is unsound you might have a train wreck on your hands.
A friend who lives in north Toronto told me excitedly that there was a new @BikeShareTO station near his building and now he is able to bike to the subway station instead of driving to the station. The potential of bike share as a last-mile #transit solution is real! #BikeTO#ActiveTravel
@mbonsma why is it so difficult for #ottawa to do this?? besides, as the capital, shouldn’t it be a role model and lead by example? #ottbike#ottcity#ottpoli
