More #Numenera trrpg tonight. We’re three actual play sessions in to the Glimmering Valley. The players got to encounter challenge levels of 7 & higher. Some of them, through skills, assets & and level of effort when they really care, & w/ dice (bot) luck, succeeded at these incredibly heroic impossible tasks
@laidbackdm I had an edition of Greyhawk before this and first will always be my alma mater. Greyhawk was the first time I kept a campaign journal of travels moving from adventure module to next adventure module. And I adore the maps. Others include #Numenera, #Glorantha and the #invisiblesun . And home game types where we've built a map: #thequietyear and #legacylifeamongruins
Me, making a character in a #Numenera game: Could I be a Wright?
GM: Sure
Me: Is anyone else going to be a Wright, though?
GM: Why?
Me: Cuz, y'know...
GM: Don’t
Me: As the old saying goes...
GM: I'm begging you
Me; Two Wrights make a wrong…
GM: Get out
@montecook i just had to take a moment to thank you for the “describe don’t explain” advice in #Numenera GM section. I’ve applied it to every game I run now.
Sessions three of @mcg#Numenera is in the books. I got to use a GM intrusion to cause a flaming cabbage to set an apartment building on fire. A player spent XP to have there be an aqueduct of “water” near by to put out the fire, and the Cabbage Man is now canonical to the campaign.
Really great #rpg#design post by @montecook on the multiple purposes rules serve in #ttrpg books. Also the description of what a monster is intended to be used for included in #numenera creatures is a great idea!
Liebe #pnpde-Gemeinde,
begrüßt @Lessy in unserer Mitte.
Jemand Interesse? #rpg#pnp#trophydark
#RPGaDay2023, Tag 1
"First RPG played (this year)"
First RPG i played (this year)
First RPG I ever Played was D&D. Nuff said about that, so I’ll focus on this year, and that was #ForbiddenLands, as the Symbaroum Group, sadly, didn’t take off.
Anyway, Forbidden Lands is a nice and sadly neglected/underrated Hex Crawler by #FreeLeague with a lot of OSR energy going for it. It uses the Year Zero engine and is appropriately deadly, forcing players to make better use of their wits than their character sheets.
I love it.
Have to catch up, because I spent so much time thinking about this yesterday and couldn’t decide. There’s so many incredibly cool looking games out there. #Vaesen, #FateForge, #Symbaroum, #Numenera, #CYBorg, #MörkBorg, the #OSE boxed sets, etc.
I’m going to go with #TheOneRing, though. The art direction for both is different, but I think they’re both equally cool in their own way. They capture the essence of Tolkien and are beautiful books.
Please respond by saying what sorts of TTRPG things you're pretty likely to either talk about or respond to if you see them.
This can be a list of games (D&D! Tribe 8! Fate!) or categories (the weirdest of indie stuff! NSR! Anything PBtA!), topics (Worldbuilding! Publishing!), stuff you're making, meta-commentary (The State Of The Industry), and so on.
Then maybe share, and if the replies are building up, check them for new people.
