I have now attempted to fly from Seattle to NY FOUR TIMES. I thought today was surely the charm, but no. We had to deplane at the last second because the flight was delayed due to storms again.

But thankfully my connecting flight is ALSO delayed, so best case scenario at this point is I actually leave Seattle, make my delayed connecting flight, and then land around 3am.

Starting to feel like I'm in one of those horror movies where you keep trying to leave and the town refuses to let you.

Tattooed friends, can you help?

I'm looking for a great sunscreen for my tattoo. Most of them have that whitish cast the makes it look faded, and even the spray-on ones are just... fine.

Is there a sunscreen made for tattoos that really makes them shine? I love how it looks with body butter on it, but none of those seem to have SPF.

Woohoo! Our little bit of land is officially a certified wildlife habitat now! We went from dirt and grass to a verdant wild space full of (mostly) native flowers and trees.

Save all the birds and bees (and coyotes and bunnies and butterflies and bears and bobcats and bats and dragonflies and... ). We have seen all those animals but never a raccoon, so maybe the sign will bring us one :)

@skyfaller I think the certification process varies, as there are a couple of options for places to do it?

We just built it slowly, adding things over time. For us, the hardest part was finding native plants that the slugs didn't devour before they had a chance to grow :)

I deal with it so often that I have a handful of templates for it so that it costs me less brain space.

And here's another thing...

...I'm someone in the industry with a ton of power. It doesn't hurt me professionally to send these kinds of messages or to tell someone to fuck off if I need to. But if you're sending this bullshit to someone without power, someone who's new or young, it's so much worse for them. You may think you're just being flirty or suggestive or whatever, but they are absolutely perceiving you as a threat.

Think about the impact you're having on someone else and be a better human.

This is your reminder to not give people advice unless they specifically ask for it. Most people have the same resources/Google/experiences you do and know how to find the answers that they need.

If people ARE looking for advice, they will say things like, "Help! I'm looking for advice."

Of course, if you know them well and think you might have useful advice or are an ACTUAL expert, you can always ask, "Are you looking for suggestions?" Just be prepared to honor their answer if it's no.

Some people have commented on the "irony" of offering advice about offering advice.

However, I believe there's a difference between offering advice to the "royal you" and to the "personal you."

We have offered advice to the "royal you" via essays, speeches, PSAs, and social media posts since the beginning of time. If something geared toward the "royal you" is not for the "personal you," you don't have to read/listen/care. Just walk on by! You're free!
