@MonaApp Feature request for #MonaApp: copy notification settings from one account to another. There are so many and you have to dig so deep to tweak them all, it would be nice to get them just right on one account and then clone them to another.

How do I instantly scroll right to the top of the Local server view in #MonaApp on iOS? It seems that when I tap the top left, it scrolls up a chunk of entries but not all the way - I have to either tap several times OR manuscroll to the top.

edit: it seems to scroll exactly 50% of the number of entries away from most recent that I am. Like if I’m 222 entries in, it scrolls to 111. Then 55, then 22 and so on. Weird.

@MonaApp has a huge problem handling Bluesky handles. Consider having a bluesky handle and Mastodon handle of the same name, for example "itsme”. So, the handles would be:

#Mastdodon: @itsme
#Bluesky: @itsme.some.instance

Now, post and then edit the post, just to find that the Bluesky handle has been partly replaced by the Mastodon handle in the edit window.

This is disturbing and took me a number of edits to get a posting right. #IceCubesApp does that correctly.

@MonaApp This image shows what happens when I click the edit button. See what #MonaApp recognizes for the #Bluesky handle? It's only the first part.

I generally like @MonaApp, but the alt text input is in obvious need of a redesign (on iOS). It hides the image, the window is unnecessarily small. Also text recognition from images would be super helpful, this was something Metatext did well.

I still very much like the @MonaApp client, but I can’t really use it on my mac anymore.

Every time I relaunch Mac it scrolls to “now” in my timeline and doesn’t respect the reading position sync location my iPhone and iPad do.

It’s vexing!

Is it possible to find the informations about my Mastodon server inside of app, @MonaApp?

@MonaApp a feature request; have an option to “hide” a hashtag or account in the Home timeline while still following them, so I can follow them only in a list?

There are a lot of situations where I want to follow but only in a list so my home timeline doesn’t get too overwhelming.

Why do you use short form post social media, specifically Mastodon?

I know lots of us are birdsite refugees, but you could have just bailed and gone no where.

Why are you here?

@raiderrobert Less dickheads and more intelligent conversation. Pure and simple.

Oh. And an excellent client: #MonaApp.

Welp, as of Friday my foray into the Mac world pretty much ceases. I am no longer working for that company. Bye bye M2 Macbook Pro.

Although, I do have an old Mac Mini knocking around here, from like 2017 - bought it on Nextdoor for $50, literally never took it out of its box. Might set it up just for , assuming that even runs on it.

I just realized I can set the original Mastodon notification sound as a notification sound in @MonaApp for iPhone.

Here’s the wav if you’d like to do the same: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1opRry-ztdqI6xMygeBMWGZ_mnHE5QLBl/view?usp=drivesdk

Need to find a free app for #Mac that does this with the system tray icons (I can’t remember the official name for this section of the desktop on MacOS). Screenshot shown. Basically just shrink the padding for all of them. I don’t need ANY other functionality, no hiding icons for example. Just more compact padding.

dhrystone,
@dhrystone@techhub.social avatar

@bitterseeds @EpiphanicSynchronicity 1000% agree. I’m happy to drop cash on things I believe are worth it (eg #MonaApp and #Obsidian), but if all the code does is take a padding of x pixels and make that x-10 pixels then screw dropping sixteen clams on it. I’m spoiled because Windows has the excess icon hiding built in, and 7TaskbarTweaker bartenderizes the spacing for free.

I’m seeing a LOT of Mac apps out there charging for features which are free on Windows and I don’t know why. Is it because people think that Mac users must be made of money because they can afford a Mac in the first place? Polar opposite is Linux stuff, I actually don’t even know of any Linux apps one needs to pay for. But yeah. If I find a free systray icon spacing compactor I’ll post the link.

An interesting new feature that I've only just noticed has been added to @MonaApp:

Adding an image from your Photos library to which you have already added a Caption (in Photos) automatically adds that caption as your image description/alt-text in Mona.

The video shows this in action (nb the centre bit where I locate the photo has been edited to remove personal content).

#Mona #MonaApp #Accessibilty #ImageDescription #AltText #iOS #macOS @main

A video showing a photo in the Photos app. I swipe up to reveal the caption I have already added to that image. I swipe to open Mona and find and add this image to my post. It has an icon on it showing that alt-text has already been added. Tapping the image and then the Edit description button shows that the caption from Photos has automatically been added to the image. I swipe back and forth to the Photos app to show that this is the same description.

I love being able to freely choose from a large plethora of well-written and well-designed #Mastodon clients. My current favorites are (order doesn't matter):

➡️ @mammoth: the only client allowing to view ALL posts from accounts, even from other instances. Great for discovering interesting profiles & content.
➡️ @IceCubesApp: great app and clear design language. For me the best designed app.
➡️ @ivory: robust & also well-designed. Comes with a #widget.
