I'm getting "your work looks like Masters of the Universe" so often that I'm going out of my way to make this guy who HAS A SKULL FOR A HEAD not look like Skeletor.
I have an arbitrary goal of wanting to hit 52 minis of any given faction I am working on. With the Leviathan ones I ended up at exactly 51 Primaris Blood Angels so I grabbed this guy to hit my goal!
I must have knocked her over by accident because at some point her judgemental finger fell off. Time to check the bits for a spare Necron finger to replace it with. I'm pleased with the clothing, need to shade and layer the face and the door she is standing on feels like it could use some rust.
I have a strong dislike for clear flight stands, so I do things like this.
This trio of Inceptors all have a handy piece of terrain to keep them at about the right height.
One is hopping a fence with the help of his jet-pack.
Another is landing on a box (and is lucky the box has crushed).
And the last is smashing his way though a wall.
Also of note is that I used 9 different metallic paints on these.
I’m looking for a portable compact painting station. Only enough space to hold a few paints, some brushes or tools and a water jar. Smallish work area. Bonus points for integrated lighting.
I wants to be able to set it up and put it aside quickly as my painting time got crushed and it matters where I am in the house since the little one joined the family.
Also very happy for parent painting best practice tips.
I finally finished up my #FinalGirl#miniatures but having issues with how I want to photograph them for the blog.
Here are some examples of a really stylized version I did, that I think captures the #horror aspect of the game but I'm not sure if a more standard set would be better so people could see the colors used better.
Thoughts? I'm putting a poll in the replies to this post if anyone is interested.
Knight Tyrant Complete!
Weather finally cooperated enough to allow for varnishing of 'Sardonic Feculence.' All that was left to do was to apply some Blood for the Blood God and Nurgle's Rot technical paints to achieve a suitably blood/pus-filled look.
Next on the painting desk: 'Slaughter's Serenity,' my Khorne Knight-Castigator. 'Death of Duty' is short! @warhammer40k@Bluesheep
More progress on the Nurgle Knight Tyrant! I won't finish it completely tonight, but he will be far enough along to attend Tanksgiving tomorrow at the local GW. Still to do: trim on the upper carapace; gun housing stuff; so, so much oozy goo; and hide more Nurglings around the frame!
Solo parenting this weekend, which is nice for hobbying because my daughter will gladly sit and paint minis with me for quite a while before getting bored or into too much of a paint covered disaster.
I spent a bunch of time this morning batching through the black orcs, which felt like way more work than is visible here. Maybe this gets easier? 😬
I might have to shift to getting single models all the way done.
With that, all the Leviathan characters are complete!
Fun to do Blood Angels in another color than red. Maybe I should do some Death Company to keep up the variety. I feel like I neglect the special BA units in favor of a BA themed army of normal Astartes units.
Need to get back in the habit of taking pictures as I go. Last month's free mini is on the desk currently, along with a Scout Kill Team and some Blood Angels Terminators.
Haven't done Sisters in a while and I didn't write down my paint list last time so I'm makingit up as I go. Base colors and a coat of nuln done. The Sacresant's armor is supposed to be darker of the two but in trying to preserve the metallic look I may have thinned the Speed Paint too much.
So for the Knight Tyrant I've put together a Rhino to act as a scenic base. The plan is to paint it as a Dark Angels tank (My buddy plays Dark Angels). So I'm putting down an initial metallic layer with rusting and then I plan to try the hairspray & salt chipping method. @warhammer40k
Wrapped up my Terminators but I haven't sat down to take she photos yet. Picked up the momentum to start the second half of the Infernus and a pile of knives with a lieutenant hidden underneath. Base colors are down, metallics next. NMM or normal metallics on all that knives?
