day 922

Worked some more on my new kids. Lots of love for this here sorcerer but he's a bit of a problem given his previous owner didn't varnish him before priming. Chipping might occur.

Anyway once I've gone and done the skin I'll show you some sexy chaos leg action

I'm getting "your work looks like Masters of the Universe" so often that I'm going out of my way to make this guy who HAS A SKULL FOR A HEAD not look like Skeletor.

We'll see how that goes.

Having finished the Cauldron of Blood it's time for something a little less intricate, as a treat! The Endless Spells in AoS are some of the most fun models to paint, and since they're formed of magic who cares if you pick out all the details? But in this case... a blood snake is made of blood, so of course it's (three different shades of) blood red!

day 914

Small scale productive.

  • varnished and flocked my sporting giant;
  • tried my hand at doing this dremel flagstone pattern thing;
  • applied iyanden yellow to the as a base coat;
  • did admin for the upcoming league I'll run. Looks to be exciting! I'll need five pitches FFS😂

Ruined well on plastic cavalry base with some flagstone pattern scored into it
Gene stealer models with yellow trousers and loin cloths

Last one for today. Have been going back and re-painting some old wargames foundry cowboys - have an itch to play Dead Man’s Hand redux. #wargames #wargamessfoundry #cowboys #oldwest #paintingminis #minipainting #miniatures #miniaturepainting #deadmanshandredux

I’ve been going back over old sets recently and trying to finish them off. These are the old citadel Rogue Trooper range. Painted over 7 years, with varying levels of competence…. Just the traitor general to go… another 7 years perhaps? 🤔

I use social media like mastodon (and previously twitter before it became a complete shit storm) as a way to record progress and encourage me to finish projects. I’m on the last two of these deep-ones and need to finish them up before the kickstarter that I just supported send me another 9…. #bobmurch #pulpfigures #cthulhu28s #deepones #cthulhu #minipainter #minipainting #miniaturepainter #miniaturepainting #paintingminiatures

I decided to push forward on the Blood Cauldron, and I have now reached a point where I'm happy with it. There's always more things that COULD be done, but I'm calling it here before becoming lost in the weeds.

WIP: Lotara Sarrin

I must have knocked her over by accident because at some point her judgemental finger fell off. Time to check the bits for a spare Necron finger to replace it with. I'm pleased with the clothing, need to shade and layer the face and the door she is standing on feels like it could use some rust.

More friends to paint with - more fun!
Today I painted with @feenwaldgestalt and her first little guy already looks so great and lively (and lovely!).

I think this terrain piece is going to reach the finishing stretch fairly soon! I want a bit more detailing on it but overall I'm pretty pleased with it. It helps that the grot on top is already painted - the one on the tank is a stand-in.

I'm at that weird stage with a model where I need to decide if "enough is enough" or go all in and keep at it forever.
What do you all think? Should I keep finding more and more details? Also, is there anything glaring?

Little palate cleanser figure before I dive into heresy ultramarines. A Stormcast Eternal with badly chipped enamelled armour and an opalescent prismatic sword.

Don't know what army I want to do for 4th edition AoS but I loved painting this woman in a way I wasn't expecting and it's nice to do a more grounded, weathered armour for a change.

Predator tank conversion.

Heavily modified for my personal army/collection.

External:
Changed the engine layout,
Added custom sponsons,
Spaced armour,
Bits and pieces,
Working hatches,
Dozer blade...

Internal:
Fully decorated,
Ork driver (plugged in, VR set up),
Tyranid gunner (lots of re-posing)...

This one took months to complete.
Many of the details are

Rear / side view of the Predator tank. The PR1CK (prick) graffiti is a reference to Rik Mayall, who passed away during the making of the tank (unrelated).
High angle view of the Predator tank. Showing that all the hatches and guns are fully mobile.
Front / side view of the Predator tank. The HR Giger freehand graffiti is a homage to the Master who passed away during the making of the tank (also unrelated).

DrH,
@DrH@warhammer.social avatar

More photos of my Predator tank conversion.

The dozer blade is made from plasticard, heated and bent into shape.

The support structure is mostly plastic sprue and the pistons are plastic rod/tube.

The dozer blade can actually be removed, leaving the frame behind. The idea being that I could create different blades.
I have not got around to making any more.

Top side of the Dozer blade.
Underside of the tank and dozer blade.
Left side from low angle of the Predator tank.

Ol' one toof.

For this Nob I wanted to create an ork that was the least "comic relief" I could.

In addition to a slight re-posing and modifications to the weapons, I also bulked up the body with some epoxy putty: add a blob to each existing muscle and smooth it in.

I also opened the jaw wider. This left only one tooth and a lip ring. Ol' one toof was born.
The boss pole also reflects this.

Then add a touch of blood from the last person that laughed.

Side views of an Ork Nob charging onwards. Arm raised and a boss pole on their back.

Should give you an idea of the bulking up he's had.
