#Hobbystreak day 937

Yesterday evening was school #WarhammerAlliance and I got a boy and girl to paint #bloodbowl gnomes for me. I also did things with a pla printer that I should not have done but let's not talk about that.

I also restarted the skin and carapace on my #JeanSteelersCult mutants. Please tell me what you think of this shoulder so I can decide.

My first models, I think. Cloaks are gradations of contrast, and technical paints.

Those gorgeous bases are so full of details I went with a just nuln oil and agrax wash approach to contrast the vivid greens, with the occasional splash of colour or metallics

For a one-session-and-done I'm pretty happy.

Here's a few pic's of all the mini's I managed to get painted in May.

Note that there's more info about them (and even more mini's that I bought 😅) over on the blog:

Trench Crusade Lieutenant

A Freeguild Marshal with a random helmet (Victoria Minis, I think) a good sized demon skull, and a holstered shotgun from the Arbites. Just a few changes tweaks the era just enough.

@tabletopminis

An AoS Cities of Sigmar mini kitbashed with a variety of parts to make a Lieutenant for Tench Crusade.

934

Was notified that i would need a sidekick for so i painted this in a matter of 45 minutes.

Yes you probably recognise Boris Johnson in this. It's post apocalyptic BoJo by @FenrisGames and I bought it for my proxy team, in case the revised Vampires had a Thrall lineman.

His only purpose is to get his arse kicked.

Trench Crusade Yoeman

Steelhelm body with GSC shotgun and Stormcast helm. I originally thought two pauldrons would be too much, now one looks like too little. Maybe if it were on the leading arm it would be better? I may need to add some metallics to show chipping on the helm and pauldron still.

Bit of green accent to use these guys for Eire Rangers once there is a whole group of them.

Snail mama by Micheal Kontraros, this bust was particularly difficult to paint because the tool marks from the clay sculpture carried over. It wasn’t nice and smooth even after proper preparation.I wanted to capture a kind of playful maliciousness in kind of an illustration /comic style.

Sniper Priest - Finished

Guy the grime on him to finish the test scheme. Lots of quick browns that could get monotonous on an army, but feels fun for a warband.

Blocking in the colours on Captain Carrot. Partly to check the colour combos (trousers were too light and needed a chestnut wash) but also to check layering and order of painting.

Finished up Cohen the Barbarian yesterday (I'd only really painted the first layers of skin and the inside of his cloak before).

Tried to get a few shades of brown in the various furs.

Not entirely happy with the sword, but I quite like the skin.

Rear photo of a painted Micro Art Studio miniature of Cohen the Barbarian from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. The cloak, scabbards and boots are slightly different browns, and the bracers are darker still.

Hope everyone's having a good day, I managed a bit of progress on some Witch Aelves; just started the color blocking, but since it's been ridiculously humid and I've been unable to prime models, I'll call this a win!

First test mini. Quick and dirty seems the way go. Going to break out the streaking grime for that little extra.

Finished with the Urbanmechs just in time for tomorrow’s Urbie Derby. I got to try a bunch of new things with these. Used both on the brush and through the airbrush, and the fanatic paints on a couple. First time I ever used the zenithal to guide where to go darker and lighter. Used Newsh after clear coating to bring out some panel lines. Really happy with how things turned out.

Urban Mech LAM Salvage pack painted like an experimental vehicle it’s a bit of St. Ives colors

The shelf of potential.

Stormlight, Battletech (before the Mercenaries kickstarter arrives), Robotech, some random samurai minis that will be joined by others eventually, and some Gundam Artifact.

I haven't even got 3d printed stuff on there yet.

Getting my life back in order post-move. May need to get a small table for the kitchen for the 3d print curing, but I can pretty easily fit the printer itself into the hobby room, along with a corsi-rosenthal box.

I have an Asylum Demon from Dark Souls on my table. Basically it's just a big sloppy butt with a tail and wings, but I still wanna paint it well. I basecoated it dark brown and sorta bone white/desert brown. Where do I go from here?

Flying Kroot.

For my personal army/collection.

From my understanding, Kroot can take on the attributes of what they eat.
Therefore if you feed one enough winged food, it should gain wings...

Also, if a Kroot's arms were wings, how would it hold a rifle?

This is my answer.

Feathers were sculpted from epoxy putty.
Feet were cut off and a rifle with the hands conveniently spaced, was attached with minimal alterations to the legs.

Rear view of the flying Kroot. Wings spread and rifle held by it's feet, it hovers above a large-leaf plant.

Final set of photos of the flying kroot conversion.

While the outer feathers are painted with reference to your average bird, I painted the inside of the wings a bright yellow so they could use it to dazzle the enemy or maybe even a mate.

Wave Serpent.

For my personal army/collection.

Another large project with a lot of work:

Made the interior more interesting (added details and carved the "ribs" to be more bone-like),

Gave the nose (in front of the pilot) a point,

Changed the turret (to make it more weird to fit the army),

Added engines with fan intakes and access hatches,

And much more...

The pilot of the modified Wave Serpent, true to my army's form, is just a head supported by a mass of wires.
You can just about see his grin through the cockpit window.
