How did you settle on your MC's appearance?
I often have a good idea of what they look like ... but sometimes it's more vague. I use storyboarding to help me consolidate who they are so that I can translate that a little better. Pinterest is super-handy for this.

MC POV: Where did you grow up? What was your childhood like there?
Dair Montgomery: We lived in Edinburgh. My da was what they called a hard man; he didn't like that I preferred the company of books and animals to playing football or cricket. My favorite time was the summer; my mum would drive me up to Ballachulish to visit Nanny Kilgour, her mother. Nanny understood me better than anyone; she nurtured my love for nature and learning. I dreaded going back home at the end of the summer.
When I came back from Afghanistan, I was pretty messed up. The only place I'd ever really felt like myself was Ballachulish ... so that's where I went.
I'm knitting a roly poly from a pattern. I deviated from the pattern when knitting the antennae, going from a photograph and using shaping techniques I've learned over the years. Here it is posing with a centipede plush. #knitting#isopod#WIP
I liked yesterday's #inkyDays drawing so much that I did one on watercolor paper. I also made some progress on a bigger floral piece. So much drawing today :)
Got in some wordage on the #wip / In 'The Afterworlds.' My heroes are getting ready for a confrontation with the Fo'wo's. I have an outline, but I'm bored, so am going off script. Why me? Why? #writingcommunity
From time to time I’m commissioned to paint portraits of people as chickens. This is a high school choir. I’m just laying down basic shapes and colors. #wip#commission#acrylicpainting#mastoart
I must have knocked her over by accident because at some point her judgemental finger fell off. Time to check the bits for a spare Necron finger to replace it with. I'm pleased with the clothing, need to shade and layer the face and the door she is standing on feels like it could use some rust.
Need to get back in the habit of taking pictures as I go. Last month's free mini is on the desk currently, along with a Scout Kill Team and some Blood Angels Terminators.
I've started writing up my thoughts, design, and development thinking for an ESP32 based sort-of-educational pseudo-analog synth toy/hack/plaything meant to be used with a breadboard for extras.
I'm probably tempting fate by posting about it at this point, but I had several posts in draft so thought I'd hit "go" on them anyway.
When I get the actual boards back, if the posts all suddenly disappear, you'll know it was a bit of a disaster!
