It is a project focused on bringing the developing Mobile Linux ecosystem to devices under $100. The main distros we are going to focus on are #postmarketOS and #Mobian, but per-device support of other distros is also considered. I was talking to a friend today, and suggested using #Matrix for a community we're both in, instead of Slack. #fediverse , you know, and open source, and actually has tools for enforcing standards of conduct. They asked, "Is there a server written in #perl ?"
There is not. The reference implementation is in Python, and it's massive. Others have been written in Go and Rust and even C++. But there's no reason it shouldn't be doable in @Perl ...
Nachdem #Telegram ziemlich eindeutig Nazisymbolik im letzten "Hey guck mal wie tol wir sind"-Pitch verwendet hat, gehen mir langsam die barrierefreien Messenger aus. Die Partnerin und ich überlegen, es mal mit #Matrix zu versuchen und sind etwas erschlagen davon, wo man anfängt. Selbst hosten ist zumindest momentan keine Option. Wo ist es denn angenehm?

En relación al debate que surge de gente a la que le irrita que se recomiende #Matrix en vez de #XMPP, diría que uséis lo que más os guste para vuestros grupos/comunidades y punto, que cada cual tendréis vuestras razones para preferir una u otra cosa.
My son friends and their parents recently joined @element with their Android phones.
Two of them created accounts with the Google SSO support, but when they joined a encrypted room - the top of the app was filled with a warning about "key backup", when clicked - nothing happens.
Have anyone else noticed this bug?
Kinda annoying and not a good onboarding experience for new users :/
Have you seen the Stack Overflow Developer Survey results for 2023?
Of the 83,830 folks surveyed, Matrix is the #1 chat tool in terms of current users' satisfaction. It's also rated as the most desirable among the open source tools listed, but there is a lot of room for improvement in awareness there.
#Rappler, a #news organization in the #Philippines, has set up a community for their readers based on #matrix. Neat to see that happen in the more or less mainstream. Maybe I'll give Matrix another look. I've wanted to use it but never had a use case. #matrixchat
Those of you who use #Matrix - should I be using the Android app Element, or Element X?
I just want text based comms in the #EMFCamp channel. I'm not fussed about anything else.
The Element website recommends Element. But their GitHub seems to recommend Element X. And, frankly, I don't understand why I'd want one over the other.
