It's also timely, what with it being the start of the northern-hemisphere summer and southern-hemisphere winter.
Finally exhausted my original supply of razor blades (straightedge), which I purchased on May 11, 2022 when I switched from crappy plastic (expensive) razors to straightedge razors. 100 razors lasted more than a year and a half for... $9.64 (plus the razor handle). And cuts better than anything else! #razor#shaving#lifehack
I can't seem to catch a break medically these days, so I hurt my TMJ and am on a soft-food diet.
Pat was lovely and bought me a bunch of baby food yesterday. I was skeptical and thought it looked gross, but it's actually delicious! Why didn't anyone ever tell me?

I can imagine having these on hand for a healthy snack or quick meal when I'm busy all the time. This feels like a #lifehack. 🤣
Instead of work this morning (see admin challenges above) I'm shopping for moustache wax.
Went full-handlebar near the start of our current pandemic. The idea was since nobody could see my moustache anyway (masks, isolation etc) I'd explore something fun.
With less mask-wearing (well-ventilated situations) there were surprising side-effects in
a) friendliness of strangers
b) service people remembering you on subsequent visits.

#LifeHack: Use a ssh session to do a 'dnf update' on your RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) VPS and NOT the terminal option of #cockpit when the update contains the cockpit-ws rpm :) This avoids heart palpitations and extreme nervousness. Speaking from experience. :) (It all worked just fine, but boy ...)

Hello #Cinemaniacs. Here's a pro tip for your next trip to #Portugal. Find yourself a mid-sized town with one or two large malls including a multiplex #cinema. Go there on a Monday evening and search for the only independent movie on the programme and you'll end up with a private projection almost 100 % of the time. Sinon je fais une pause dans ma pause des RS pour vous partager cette idée géniale (oui je me jette des fleurs 😌) de #lifehack si vous avez plusieurs chats qui ont besoin d’une alimentation différente.
Genre perso ma chatte Pantoufle qui est diabétique a besoin absolument de croquettes spécial diabète (super chères 😬), mais mon autre chat Réflexe peut manger des croquettes normales.
Du coup je m’étais finalement décidé à acheter une gamelle sélective (image 1), même si le prix est totalement abusé, à presque 170 euros, les bâtards. 😬
(Un prix qui a presque doublé en cinq ans d’ailleurs, vu que la même se vendait ≃ 90 euros en 2018. 💀

(Ce qui au passage donne totalement envie de faire la révolution, de guillotiner des capitalistes et de faire le communisme et une démocratie directe. Mais bon en attendant de faire ça faut bien nourrir les chats quand même. 😬)
Bref à l’usage ça marche pas trop mal, mais c’est même pas parfait puisqu’il y a possibilité pour un autre chat de passer par derrière la gamelle pendant que le chat « autorisé » mange, et de tenter d’en piquer. Pour ça les capitalistes de Surefeed ont trouvé une super solution capitaliste : iels vendent sur leur site un accessoire, un bout plastique qui se clipse derrière pour… quinze euros de plus ! (image 2) 😬

(Et en plus, c’est pas parfait non plus parce que si les deux chats s’entendent moyen et se tapent dessus quand il s’agit de bouffe, je suis à peu près certain que ça arriverait que le plus fort vire l’autre et prenne sa place de force pour lui piquer sa bouffe avant que ça se referme ! Du coup le chat est même pas forcément tranquille pour bouffer ! 🙄)
Bref bref, après coup j’ai pensé à une solution bien meilleure et deux fois moins chère : la gamelle sélective do-it-yourself !
Le principe est en fait super simple : le chat va manger dans une grande caisse en plastique, où il sera le seul à pouvoir entrer grâce à une… chatière sélective ! Qui coûte beaucoup moins cher !
Le matos nécessaire : (image 3)
une grande caisse en plastique transparent (la plus grande possible pour que le chat soit à l’aise. Et transparente pour qu’il puisse… voir à travers. Hé oui. 😐). Prix : une vingtaine d’euros en supermarché. (Des j’ai aussi vu des promos où iels vendent trois caisses pour 20 €, donc c’est encore mieux si vous tombez sur ce genre de promo bien sûr. ☝️😐)
une chatière sélective à puce. La moins chère que j’ai vu coûte une soixantaine d’euros et fait l’affaire. Il existe aussi des chatières « magnétiques » un peu moins chères, mais faut que le chat ait un collier avec un aimant dessus et apprenne à l’ouvrir… (⚠️ Attention par contre à bien vérifier avant achat que la chatière peut se monter sur une surface assez fine, vu que certaines sont peut-être prévues uniquement pour des portes épaisses.)
un cutter à 6 € (ou vous pouvez utiliser une découpeuse électrique si vous l’avez déjà bien sûr, mais le plastique de ce genre de caisse se découpe au cutter si on fait attention. Cf pouet suivant quand même pour les précautions à prendre.)

Bien sûr tout ça reste beaucoup trop cher (:guillotine::guillotine::guillotine:), mais ça revient quand même presque deux fois moins cher au total que la gamelle sélective, demande à peine plus d’une demi-heure de boulot, et le chat est tranquille pour bouffer ! 🤗
Anyone else use Pinesol in their laundry? I started doing it during the beginning of #Covid19 at the suggestion of a doctor friend. I use it in combination with Oxiclean, borax, detergent, and white vinegar to clean my clothes. It’s made my clothes smell great, apparently helps disinfect, and it definitely boosted my cleaning power. Just 125ml per wash (roughly half a cup in uncivilized units) per load is all you need.

Some days my ADHD brain will let me do literally anything except what I'm supposed to be doing. I work around this using a hack I call Procrasti-work.
First, I set myself one task I must complete that day. Then I give myself permission to put that task aside and work on something else, as long as that something really does need to be done.
Eg If I set myself a blog-writing task, I can be pretty sure I'll do a bunch of housework and cook a decent meal.
