It’s hard to believe I own such an obscure RPG like Robotrek as a kid. I probably got it off a Toys r Us discount bin and with my love for RPG’s I had to have it. Never thought years later it would become highly sought after physically and much more appreciated.
Did you ever buy an obscure game that became wildly popular much later?
Anyone looking for a fun JRPG to play on mobile should check out Another Eden if you haven't already. It's been out for a while but I just discovered it & it's great to pick up & play for 30-60 minutes at a time. It has in-app purchases, but I have yet to find anything that requires spending money (although I will probably buy something so I don't feel guilty not giving the developers anything). It's easily up there with SQEX, Atlus, etc. quality.
@renwillis The problem with non-random, predetermined encounters is that I ended up in a protracted fight that I couldn't win, either because I missed a previous battle to gain XP from, or because I was bad.
It soured my experience of the game and I ended up never playing it again.
Random battles to farm XP helps me succeed through brute force when my wits fail me.
@pyloric Totally fair. I tend to throw myself at everything and usually can get through it. I’m only 1 1/2 hours in, still getting a feel for the combat management. It’s going to be tricky. Haven’t checked if there are guides for this one. I really appreciate the sci-fi setting and non-male lead though. Both feel so rare. And it feels like just what I needed after the 3D anime fest of Persona 5!
Hey friends & JRPG fans! Looks like the western comic-inspired turn-based JRPG Battle Chasers: Nightwar is on sale for 70% off in the Nintendo eshop (at least in the US?)!
Had this on my wish list. Supposed to be a solid game, got some table top vibes too. Visually it looks amazing. At $40 for 30 hours, seemed steep - but $12? Fuck yeah!
Last push through Mementos is complete. Even killed the Reaper! All that’s left is wrap up the Royal version final palace and that will be it! I’m both ready and sad to see it coming to an end. What a game!!!
There's nothing else to do in #UnicornOverlord I did everything, did the last battle two times (we can do it as many times as we want) all quests, everything, and now I don't feel like playing anything 😔 Maybe continue my 2nd playthrough of #TriangleStrategy So, in case I need some more #Vanillaware in my life, which one of these games would you recommend me to play first? #videogames#atlus#jrpg#rpg#shareyourgames
