#BarackObama offered a complex analysis of the conflict between #Israel & #Hamas, telling thousands of former aides that they were all “complicit to some degree” in the current bloodshed.
“I look at this, & I think back, ‘What could I have done during my presidency to move this forward, as hard as I tried?’” he said in an interview conducted by his fmr staffers for their podcast, Pod Save America. “But there’s a part of me that’s still saying, ‘Well, was there something else I could have done?’”
#Obama entered the WH convinced he could be the president who would resolve the decades-old conflict between #Israelis & #Palestinians.
“Even what I just said, which sounds very persuasive, still doesn’t answer the fact of, all right, how do we prevent kids from being killed today?” he said. “But the problem is that if you are dug in on that, well, the other side is dug in remembering the videos that #Hamas took or what they did on the 7th, & they’re dug in, too, which means we will not stop those kids from dying.”

Support for #Israel in the #US and many #European countries is set to decrease over the long term, as memories of WWII wane and immigration of non-Jews...
...only that this time, more than three milennia after the #Exodus, the blood rushing in the ears and the bloodshot eyes of its rulers make both sides too deaf to hear its call.
There is some real irony in this calamity for both sides, #Palestinians and #Israelis alike.
#Israel bombed the densely-populated #Jabalya#refugee camp in northern #Gaza for the 2nd time in 2 days Wednesday, prompting warnings of #WarCrimes by the UN #HumanRights Council (#OHCHR) & some nations took diplomatic measures & condemned Israel’s offensive in the besieged enclave.

An open letter to Israelis from Israelis: We deserve the truth about October 7
"As Israelis we demand an official commission into the events of October 7. Genocide is being perpetrated in Gaza in the name of Israeli victims and we still do not know who was killed, how they were killed, and who killed them. We demand answers and so should you..."
In any pre-Trump era, this alone would be grounds for resignation.

This is a video from the ChP_Kavkaz telegram channel purportedly showing a sort of preemptive police raid in Dagestan - in majority 'Muslim areas of Russia’s north Caucasus mobs raid hotels looking for Jews after rumors spread that some Israelis had moved there to flee the war. This video is from Dagestan, but similar incidents happened in Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia.'
