This time one week ago we played our final show for Marcon 2023 and our first Doctor Whose Line Is it Anyway? improv games back at the Columbus Convention Center in over five years!
sunday zones at union pool in #brooklyn. heady, dense #improv by emergency group, like the moody & conversational parts of jambands minus the goofiness & face-scrunching peaks. debut gig by heat manager, choogle-adjacent alt-wryness, with only the barest hints that their members used to be in a primal dead cover band. rare side set by danny arakaki of #GarciaPeoples, feat. nice fat leads by mike bones of weak signal.
I never did a proper #introduction so let's give it a shot! I'm Nick, as you might have guessed.
I'm a #writer and #artist and I like to combine those in the form of #comics. I had a modestly successful #webcomic back in the day and I'm working on bringing it back.
I've been a little shy about posting music recently for reasons that aren't 100% clear to me, so I promised myself that tonight I would record something and post it no matter what. So here we go!
"Shell" - moderately-paced, classical/jazz/ambient, solo acoustic piano
After tonight’s D&D session, I’ve realized I want to get better at improvisation. Not the comedy type, the playing a character with a personality type!
I highly recommend taking improv classes. It's not just about the comedy, there are many important life skills in improv - only one of which is improving your D&D/role playing skills.
In real life: I hang out with my school's student theatre club, the RIT Players. I like #improv, #cycling, #racquetball, #transit, and traveling. I love my family.
