"We are seeing... important processes that are leading to the collapse of the #Zionist project," said #IlanPappé, following his interrogation in the #USA.
"The enabling role of Western countries when it comes to Israel’s war on Gaza is even worse than their stance during the Nakba" in 1948. "We are seeing a transition from using ethnic cleansing as the main method" into genocide.

"The good news is—actions like this by the #USA or #European countries taken under pressure from the pro-Israeli lobby or #Israel itself smell of sheer panic and desperation," the renowned author said.
"Israeli Historian Ilan Pappé - a staunch critic of Zionism - was detained & interrogated this week by FBI agents as he entered the US.
"They had a long phone conversation with someone... & after copying everything on my phone allowed me to enter."
Actions like this taken under pressure from Israel "smell of sheer panic & desperation in reaction to Israel's becoming very soon a pariah state", said Pappé.

"In a video circulating online from January 2024, Pappe emphasises that the term "Gaza Strip" emerged post-1948, following the Israeli invasion, reshaping Gaza’s identity and geography."
Israeli historian, political scientist and former politician, Ilan Pappé, explains the underlying weakness of the state of Israel.
"This whole idea of creating a state on the basis of religion never worked, in any country in the world.
And we can see now the struggle inside the Jewish society between two camps, the secular Jews and the religious Jews. And they find it very difficult to find anything in common."

"The beginning of the end of the Zionist project?" Ilan Pappé on the Makdisi Street podcast
"In this episode, the brothers interview the historian Ilan Pappé, best known for his 2006 book The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, in order to gain some historical perspective on the catastrophe unfolding in Gaza as well as what the current situation tells us about shifting global and local attitudes and even how one can start to anticipate the terminal stage of the Zionist project in Palestine—and what that means for the future."
'The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine' by Ilan Pappe.
Painful but necessary reading in our journey to understand the Israel-Palestine conflict, and to hopefully contribute to find a path to peace and reconciliation in a not so distance future.
In 1948, in the port town of Acre, the Zionist Hagena forces poisoned the water with typhoid in order to bring the residents and thousands of Palestinian refugees from Haifa, to surrender and evacuate the town. This is in #IlanPappe 's book The Ethnic Cleansing of #Palestine, where he quotes International Red Cross sources. #Nakba
What's happening today in #Gaza is a continuation of that.
I've been reading The Ethnic Cleansing of #Palestine, by #IlanPappe, and boy it's a hard book the read. It details the plans, intent and execution of an ethnic cleansing in 1947-48, that included a number of terrorist attacks, murders, rapes, random killings, to finish with the military take over and expulsion of many villages. It details how the Arab volunteer army that the Arab League sent was incapable of stopping the better armed Zionist troops of Hagana and Irgun.

"Un patriotisme à toute épreuve qui s’explique notamment par « les menaces d’attaques constantes auxquelles est confronté Israël », précise Héloïse Fayet, chercheuse au Centre des études de sécurité de l’Institut français des relations internationales #Ifri. Selon elle, l’armée est devenue une institution « qui met tout le monde d’accord » et qui représente « un haut lieu de sociabilisation avant les études supérieures pour les jeunes »."
