When the #HomeOffice can find no 'compelling reason' to reunite migrant #workers who are single mothers, with their children, you know that we are just a few small steps away from being a society depending on a modern form of indentured labour (or even slavery)... the Home Office is showing (once again) there is no limit to its inhumanity, and we are plunging back in time towards feudalism...
Home Office denying visas to children of migrant health workers
What part of ‘you have f****ked up and NO, ‘Europe does not nee us more than we need you’ does the Home Office (or even the maladministration) understand?
But then Conservative and Labour ‘rulers’, all taking bungs from their private health businesses (it is not an industry) could not give an f****g damn.
Studio time to focus on the work I need to get done (yesterday brought interruptions--all good, got those out of the way before the next storm rolls through)
A partner on the same frequency: we're different enough that life is interesting and lively, but in tune to the extent that we can understand each other: blessed
Angela Smith, Labour’s leader in the Lords, told the Guardian: “Sunak’s press conference was bizarre. I don’t think he has a clue how the Lords works. We will stick to our normal processes for approving this bill.”
Alex Carlile, a crossbench peer and lawyer, said: “The prime minister’s press conference was vacuous and banal, and he repeated the same statement around 20 times. It has caused some annoyance in the Lords.”
The #HomeOffice seems to have bowed to pressure on its treatment of EU citizens....
I winder if this has anything to do with the rumours that #Spain had been exploring how it might change the treatment of UK citizens domiciled in Spain.... especially after the appalling treatment of Spanish nationals recently.
Whatever, the reasons for the change I think we can safe say it will have been grudging!
7-mile hike with M on trails we haven't walked in years--beautiful day to be outside (another storm coming soon, so "carpe deambulatio?" --I had to look up Latin)
Coffee
Enjoying a quiet afternoon with M and Mr. Purrsival the Cat: genealogy stuff, reading a good book, drinking hot coffee and tea, and writing some correspondence
Met a nice lady who can watch our kitties while we travel to see relatives--she's a kindred spirit, it's great to meet such folks. Helps that she's a fellow masker, careful of herself and others.
Two-mile walk today in the after-storm sunshine with my buddy M., looking forward to a hike tomorrow in the Big Woods.
At the intersection of the #Tories migrant policies, the inhumanity of the #HomeOffice, the shifts in #healthcare provision & #women's health are a group of women without ongoing visas trapped by lockdown who needed #NHS maternity services.
Might we have expected a pragmatic & supportive conclusion to their plight.... well, it seems not.
Once again the UK is demonstrating its a country which has a Govt. that ha lost sight of humanity (as value)
Another day, another tale of inhumanity & callousness towards #workers from abroad.... #brexit has merely emphasised the brutality & disregard for people's lives at the #HomeOffice.
