I've a question about modern "homebrew" games made for old consoles:
Why is the original Gameboy such a popular target? Itch lists a whopping 6406 games tagged as targeting Gameboy. The second-most popular old console is the NES, with only 1848 games on Itch: less than a third as many as the Gameboy. The Gameboy Advance sits at only 450 games on Itch.
The first public tech demo of the upcoming 3DSage Game Engine, a highly optimized 3D game engine and level design tool for the Game Boy Advance, has recently been released! I have way too many games to ever play, but still I can't help it. Today's haul: Othello (NES), Spinball (Vectrex), Colossal Cave Adventure (PS5), Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (GBA). Read on for more details
As soon as Shantae Adbance was announced, I wanted to do fanart of my favorite video game character. I was also making this at a time when I was drained when it came to art and IRL. But drawing this really helped me get my groove back.
I went with a big pop-py theme, slightly inspired by Dragalia Lost while trying to keep the excitement I felt for this game's announcement. Replicating the style scene on the promo material was a lot of fun too! I did have plans for including sprites of the characters, but I did not have the passion to add it in. But I really enjoyed working on this a lot. #MastoArt#Shantae#ShantaeAdvance#Magic#Fire#GameBoyAdvance#IndieGame#art#art2024#digitalart#digitalartwork#artwork#CentaurWorks#fanart#anime#animestyle#animeartstyle#clipstudiospaint
Deadly Skies (aka Airforce Delta Storm) takes the air combat action you'd expect from its console counterparts, and squeezes it into your GBA in such a way as to keep the high flying thrills intact.
I won a yellow VHS copy of the Pokémon: The First Movie on a #Whatnot stream givy last night, along with getting a CIB copy of GTA for the PS1, #StreetFighter II for the #SNES, and a fuchsia pink #GameboyAdvance for a really good price with a free Power Rangers cart last night! It's a really fun combo of eBay and Twitch.
So, I finished The Legend of #Zelda - A Link to the Past on #snes !
You know all those people that are obsessed with Zelda games? Well, they're right, it is awesome. But don't even try to tackle this game without help: it is huge and so rich in lore.
Now I feel the itch to continue the universe. I'll recover a bit and most probably jump in to the Minish Cap on #GameBoyAdvance.
Let’s talk about how #MarioKartSuperCircuit is a far better Mario Kart than Super Mario Kart on the SNES. Friends and I traveling together played hours of this linked together on over seas flights. Lots of good memories with this game. #GBA#GameboyAdvance#retrogaming
