Where do y'all buy #music , specifically CDs and 16bit flac? Currently I'm using:
a) #Tidal for streaming,
b) #discogs for rare NM+ CDs,
c) amazon?? for mainstream CDs,
d) https://us.7digital.com/ ?? for #FLAC -- purchased downloads.
e) Does anyone use other streaming services, like iDJPool?
f) (I already know how to pirate and how to buy mp3s.)
I'm especially looking for (d) -- alternative sources of FLAC purchases -- because 7digital won't have everything (nothing does).

15 Most Expensive Metallica Albums You Can Buy Right Now
From rare copies with notable owners to releases signed by the band, the resale market for Metallica albums has some hefty asking prices.
Today's random #Discogs choice The Cult and Electric 1987. What an album! I have a massive soft spot for The Cult. Had a little boogie round the living room to this. Favourite track Love Removal Machine. #nowplaying#music#TheCult
Calling all #music fans! 📢 (Un)inspired by the non-comprehensiveness of the #1001Albums You Must Hear Before You Die list, we're making a Mastodonian 1001 Albums list! 📝
Tell me THE album(s) you think everyone should hear, any genre/language/year, and I'll add to the list (reply here or DM; let me know if you want the submission to be anonymous). And even if you don't add an album, check out the list - maybe you'll find your next fave. :ablobjam:
At some point I will make a more scannable/searchable version of our 1001 Mastodonian must-hear albums list, since lengthy #Discogs lists are a pain on the mobile site (can only see 25 at a time vs. up to 250 on desktop site). Will probably just be a blog post with everything on a single page.
This is a bit of fun: a #Discogs list of band names that come from another band's song title. Confirmed my suspicion this morning that #SistersOfMercy are named after the #LeonardCohen song.
The person keeping the list takes submissions, if anyone has some to add!
Aaaaaannnnnd I found the missing credits from the other week.
Turns out that #Discogs UI leaves something to be desired, so while it ‘knows’ that Eddie Bo is an alias of Edwin #Bocage, it will not display the credits for the latter if your browsing the former! (Or vice versa)
So now I have another 500ish credits (lots of dupes I’m sure) to sort through!
Listening to a bootleg I got off #Discogs (before they banned bootlegs) of #DavidBowie rehearsing for the Outside tour and, good grief, I just love it. Bowie singing My Death is always perfection, but Bowie singing it with mistakes is positively sublime.
Out of curiosity and thanks to #Discogs, there are actually 3,903 "known" entries (including many repeats, of course) of the song "Imagine" credited to "lennon"...
"A beloved internet sanctuary gets bled for profit to the detriment of its functionality — by 2023, it’s become just about the most familiar story online. #Discogs, hopefully, will not become the latest in a long line of formerly useful sites; ... "
Looking for #vinyl at flea markets, etc, is becoming a bit tedious. Here in Switzerland anyway. Increasingly, I encounter record hunters, invariably younger men in their 20s & 30s, who grab great stacks of records then sit there for an hour or more (in everyone's way) researching every single record on #discogs on their phones. And woe betide anyone who dares touch a record within their reach, 'Erm, excuse me mate, that's mine'
Happened 2 or 3 times at a big open-air market yesterday.
Discogs’ vibrant vinyl community is shattering (www.theverge.com)
A home for music diehards has been fractured by increased fees that are pushing sellers and shoppers to other platforms.
