I love it when there are literally more cops than protestors, and that was BEFORE the van of stormtroopers pulled up.

Gigi, to random

Ho lee shit.
The AP has found that the number of deaths caused by the police in the US is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than thought because they're not always reported as being "officer-involved."

The investigation found that between 2012 and 2021, more than a thousand people died after police use physical force that was not intended to be lethal. That includes batons, stun guns, physical restraints, and chemical agents. The oldest victim was 95 and the youngest 15.

Only 28 of the officers were charged.

The Police role was only cited in about half of the cases, meaning that many more Americans have died at the hands of the police than was previously known.

Confusing situation at Gerrard and Church, with the power off along Church and now excessive quantities of sirens incoming.

Oh. Ambulance.
Perhaps they are predicting someone getting injured trying to cross this street with all the jackhole drivers who apparently don't know to treat it like a four-way stop.

A little further up Church Street where there are no street lights even.

Gigi,

Just over there is Toronto Police Services Headquarters.

Clearly the police are aware that there's no hydro at certain points in the city.

And yet, do you know who's NOT outside directing traffic?

Man, I hadn't even crawled out of bed before Today in started.

The campaign of intimidating Palestine activists and their allies continues unabated. It starts with this from Ottawa:

In more unacceptable behaviour from @OttawaBylaw instead of issuing tickets for using a megaphone on the spot, theyre now doing late night visits, seemingly in an attempt to intimidate Palestine solidarity activists.

My friend Tom was issued a ticket at his home at 10 PM...

An image of a police officer standing in the snow, visible from the shoulders down, with a wooden fence in the background. There is text overlaid that reads: [Indicating who posted] tomdeadman
Screenshot of the Instagram text accompanying the previous image. tomdeadman Bylaw came to my back door at 10pm at night Monday, to issue me a $490 ticket for using a loud speaker at a Palestine Solidarity protest. The ticket was written at the protest where I was detained and provided ID and my information. However, they refused to issue me the ticket at the time. Instead saying they would "find me" at a later date. I am the second resident harassed in this way. Last Thursday, a activist received a home visit from bylaw for using a megaphone at a earlier protest. These tickets violate the charter, and I have joined up with others who revived them to fight them in court. Did you seriously just try that? 🤔

You know this is the Internet, right?

You know old City budgets are available to just anybody who can type words into a search engine?

So you're telling us, that for an additional $624,100,000 we got THIRTY-SEVEN more cops?
You're just putting it out there like that?

😳

I'll attach the nonsense video in the next post.

The finding that the use of the Emergency Act was unconstitutional is a good thing.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/emergencies-act-federal-court-1.7091891

Gigi,

2/🧵

We all know WHO the Emergency Act was going to be used on if this stood. Let's look at how Canada's various hate legislations are actually implemented to see where this shit was headed.

⚖️ ⚖️ ⚖️ ⚖️
Background
⚖️ ⚖️ ⚖️ ⚖️

Canadian hate laws are:

• advocating genocide (s. 318(1)),
• public incitement of hatred (s. 319(1)), • wilful promotion of hatred (s. 319(2)),
• wilful promotion of antisemitism (s. 319(2.1)), and
• mischief relating to religious property, education institutions, etc. (s. 430(4.1))

Additionally, other crimes can be deemed "hate motivated," which means that during sentencing heavier penalties will be assessed.

The fact that none of the ACTUAL hate laws on the books speak to attacking people DIRECTLY, results in charges against the Indigo Eleven being considered "hate motivated" for throwing paint at a building, while throwing paint at me, a living, breathing human being is abso-fucking-lutely fine¹, apparently.

#FuckThePolice #DefundDisarmDismantle #LawFare

¹ Ironically, I wouldn't even have spoken to the cops about the paint shitshow had he not used his whiteness to cause two other people to be arrested while not mentioning his role in things.

I still don't think jail is going to solve a damned thing, but other than one call from the cops, the point of which seems to have been to subtly threaten me, I have had zero interaction with this process, so 🤷🏾‍♀️

Whole annoying backstory can be traced by following the #PaintGate hashtag.

Gigi,

3/🧵

Classifying an act as "hate-motivated" is very much a political decision.

• Currently, TPS has deployed hate unit cops to EVERY SINGLE PALESTINIAN🇵🇸 PROTEST since October¹.
(Probably before then, but they openly admit to this much.)

At least one was there this morning, DESPITE the organizers being JEWISH. I know who they are, because that is my function at protests: watching the cops.

• in the past, Indigenous protesters have had their actions surveilled by various hate crime units from across the country, including the solidarity blockades in 2020, because we all know the real hate is anything that inconveniences white people.

• Taylor McNallie, a Black activist from Calgary, has had "hate-motivated" added to her already ludicrous charges (assault, sexual assault and unlawful confinement), for countering the h̶i̶t̶l̶e̶r̶j̶üg̶e̶n̶d̶ #SaveCanadaFash during one of their cross Canada Hate appearances.

(I really must flesh out that hashtag.)

• Absolutely topping the ludicrous use of "hate-motivated"

Well, at least the budget for today's police nonsense SEEMS more in alignment with... actually, I have no idea how that sentence ends.

Just consciously realized thay today is the 13th. It's the 38th anniversary of the MOVE bombing.

Let's see what the media has written to commemorate.

#MOVEbombing #BlackHistory #FuckThePolice #PoliceDontKeepUsSafe

Gigi,

We probably don't need a reminder that colonialism, white supremacy, and capitalism kill, but the MOVE bombing is tangible evidence of the lengths to which the system and its henchmen will go to protect themselves.

Eleven people, 5 of them children, were murdered on this date.

Say their names:

Raymond Africa (50)
John Africa (44)
Conrad Africa (36)
Rhonda Africa (30)
Frank Africa (26)
Theresa Africa (26)
Katricia Africa (14)
Zanetta Africa (13)
Phil Africa (12)
Delisha Africa (12)
Tomaso Africa (9)
