"Discord wyłącza boty „szpiegowskie”, które zbierały i sprzedawały wiadomości użytkowników.
Po tym, jak w zeszłym tygodniu 404 Media poinformowało o usłudze, Discord zamknął teraz wiele kont typu scraping i twierdzi, że rozważa podjęcie kroków prawnych."
Message-Scraping, User-Tracking Service Spy Pet shut down by Discord.
Spy Pet, a service that sold access to a rich database of allegedly 3 billion messages and details on 600 million users, has seemingly been shut down. Discord said that the company's safety team had been "diligently investigating" Spy Pet and that it had banned accounts affiliated with it.
I might finally do a technical stream this weekend. But instead of coding the goal for me will be to set up #Synapse and hook up to the #Matrix. I tried this before but got stuck on the mail server setup step, but I've been told there are other options so I guess we'll give this another go.
Will I finally divorce myself from #Discord? Probably not, but this is a good first step and if I can get this to work, then I can finally delete my server from that cursed network! 😂
Don't forget, #AllThingsTech has our own Discord server for those that are looking to hang out and chat outside of Mastodon.
We feel that there are often times that longer, more in-depth conversations are wanted/needed and Discord is a great place to have those conversations.
It's a great place to give us feedback about our server to help make it a better place.
Come join here if you'd like as we'd love to have anyone and everyone!
#discord#terrorisme#terroriste
Discord is getting scraped by a spy site. China wants Apple to drop all Meta apps from the app store! Twitter's Grok is spreading more fake news.
And next year's phone chips might be thirstier than this year's!

Am I the only one who thinks #discord is just one giant mess in which almost everything gets lost in the noise. How did we come to this situation where everyone relies on this single, centralized chat service?
@AngryAnt yes, like #rocket.chat or even #irc, but more and more open source projects, including #godot rely on #discord which is not accessible for a very very large part of the human population....
#SocialMedia#SocialNetworks#WebScraping#Discord: "An online service is scraping Discord servers en masse, archiving and tracking users’ messages and activity across servers including what voice channels they join, and then selling access to that data for as little as $5. Called Spy Pet, the service’s creator says it scrapes more than ten thousand Discord servers, and besides selling access to anyone with cryptocurrency, is also offering the data for training AI models or to assist law enforcement agencies, according to its website.
The news is not only a brazen abuse of Discord’s platform, but also highlights that Discord messages may be more susceptible to monitoring than ordinary users assume. Typically, a Discord user’s activity is spread across disparate servers, with no one entity, except Discord itself, able to see what messages someone has sent across the platform more broadly. With Spy Pet, third-parties including stalkers or potentially police can look up specific users and see what messages they’ve posted on various servers at once.
“Have you ever wondered where your friend hangs out on Discord? Tired of basic search tools like Discord.id? Look no further!” Spy Pet’s website reads. It claims to be tracking more than 14,000 servers, 600 million users, and includes a database of more than 3 billion messages." https://www.404media.co/a-spy-site-is-scraping-discord-and-selling-users-messages/

@jake4480 This only affects public #Discord servers whose channels are visible to everyone joining (including #SpyPet’s army of #selfbots, which range from blank-avatar accounts created by SpyPet itself to accounts stolen from other users via the usual scams like free Nitro). Private servers with clever #gatekeeping / #verification mechanisms (where the chat channels are hidden from view unless you get manually verified by the moderators) are immune to this message-scraping model.
