Is it just me or do @Codeberg have a lot of issues these days? I can't reach their website at the moment and this is far from the only time I can't reach codeberg.org.

If you're wondering what forge to host your code project on, the right answer is probably going to be . If the right answer was anything else, you probably wouldn't be wondering about it.

https://forgejo.org/

Don't want to host it yourself? Then is what you're looking for.

If you have an XRechnung/XInvoice (EU Standard), there is a free software viewer for that which just got it’s 1.0 release … :drgn_heart:

Read more on Dragotin’s Blog!

Also if you have #qt knowledge and know how to deal with #xml consider helping. (I’m not very fluent in C++ or QT, apologies)

You can find the source code on Codeberg.

En más noticias internacionales, ayer migré todos los repositorios de un cliente (decenas) de #gitlab a #codeberg porque realmente me gusta #forgejo. Es una pieza fina de software.

Since sometimes I'm eagerly waiting for #Codeberg to update to a new #Forgejo version, I now have a small command to check it for me.

https://codeberg.org/scy/dotfiles/src/commit/5679998191b7c6f76058050b26976b94c35e1e52/bin/codeberg-version.py

(Made it a goal to not require third-party libraries or tools for such a small task, but damn I totally get why nobody is using #Python's builtin HTTP client directly 😬)

Git and GitHub are key tools for sharing your work reproducibility and the greater good 🌱 However they are often seen as too 'hardcore' or developer-focussed to be used by researchers and data analysts. That's a misconception! Great vid to get started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Dd7KRpKeaE

#github removed search on public repositories without account XD They steal your code but do not allow other people to see it. This is disgusting af.

No wonder why people cannot build their own copilots alternatives when the biggest source of code is under stupid regulations.

#fuckgithub

Kurwa. It's soo good I stopped commiting to my accunt and migrated to #codeberg :cate:

GitNex 5.5.0 is now OUT with a new comment UI, the ability to update your profile avatar, the option to insert notes to issues/PRs/releases, and many other improvements.

We have also reached 400 stars on . Thanks to all for supporting GitNex all the way.

With the upcoming 6.0.0 release, GitNex will have different version numbers, such as 6.0.0, 7.0.0, and so on.

I hope you enjoy the new release and find it even more productive.

I don't understand why so many excellent #opensource projects such as @Minetest, #SuperTuxCart, @openttd or #OpenRCT2 still rely on gilded jails like #Github and #Discord instead of the free alternatives, #Gitlab, #Codeberg, #Matrix or else !

principia, to random
@principia@fosstodon.org avatar

Since a while back, most of the Principia source repositories are now mirrored onto #codeberg under the Principia organisation:

https://codeberg.org/principia

While they are read-only at the moment and Github is still the canonical source, it should be possible to open pull requests from the Codeberg side to contribute sometime in the future and have it reflect in the other direction.

markpitblado, to 11ty

Moved my personal website from #nextjs to #11ty this weekend, and started with a great template/theme by @lukem.

  • Build time is down from approx 2 min to 5 seconds. - Full text should now be available in RSS (and kept the link the same!).
  • Repo is now hosted on #codeberg instead of GitHub (I think this is site number 3 to transition)

Biggest desire is less dependencies to have to worry about. Having all posts in markdown did make the transition pretty painless.

weirdwriter, to random

I want to move my GitHub repositories to #CodeBerg and my question is, github seems to have a robust terminal/Cli program. I tried to register for a codeberg account, but they’re accessibility solution for getting around the captcha is to send them an email with registration details. Has anyone else done this? And if you have, and if you got an account, what is their terminal support like on windows?

4 new blog posts in April. Seems I'm getting better at sharing my long(er) form thoughts :)

The workflow I now have makes it really easy too. When I have a thread here that I think deserves a blog post, I copy the link to the first toot and paste it in https://mtr.wildeboer.net where I can get a dump that I can copy/paste in my editor and work on. My blog is based and also uses Markdown, so it is easy to do :)

TIL: When you use #codeberg and/or #forgejo, you can pimp your profile page by creating a repository called .profile (the dot is important) with a single file called README.md in it. Once done, the Markdown in said file will be shown as default content on your profile page. This is going to be fun! https://codeberg.org/jwildeboer

Ooh, @Codeberg just updated to @forgejo version 7 and… ta daa, the spurious warnings in the code listings for proper curly quotes and other correct – but sadly underutilised – typographical elements in comments and strings are gone!

e.g., see https://codeberg.org/kitten/app/src/branch/main/examples/fetchiverse/index.page.js#L9

Yay! Thank you – I’m no longer going to feel embarrassed about linking to my source code on Codeberg :)
