Following is a thread of quotes from #TheGlobalJigsaw latest episode on the #IRGC, #Quds force, #Basij militias - and th ideological blueprint for #Iran so called Axis of Resistance. Whole episode here:
Another #Iranian - the current mayor of the capital #Tehran - put it even more bluntly. He said that the Islamic Republic now ruled over four Arab capitals: #Baghdad , #Beirut , #Damascus and #Sana’a.
It was a #Libyan journalist in response to #Bush 's axis of evil' speech who said that these three countries instead formed an axis of resistance because they were against colonial and American interests and that phrase went on to be picked up by Iranian media.
Dalal Mawad: I spent my morning in Paris buying medicine for people in #Beirut Then I see this. This is the Hermes boutique in downtown Beirut, Lebanon, where 80% of people can’t afford basic goods. I don’t know what to call this, the schism, the contrast, the surrealism is something #Lebanon@lebanon

[...] In this #Sardeafterdinner, we look back at 2023 and take away the lessons learned: the Good, The Bad and The Absurd. It’s an unfiltered unapologetic rant about the personal, local, regional and international milestones that shaped this year for us as human beings, Lebanese, Arabs & non-whites…
The Sarde After Dinner Podcast is a free space based out of the heart of #Beirut, Lebanon, where Médéa Azouri & Mouin Jaber discuss a wide range of topics (usually) held behind closed doors in an open and simple way with guests from all walks of life.
Sarde [سردة] (noun), [Sa-r-de]: A colloquial term used in the Middle East to describe the act of letting go & kicking off a stream of consciousness and a rambling narrative.
Hassan Nasrallah: "We extend our condolences today to the martyrs, the great leader Qasem Soleimani and his Iranian companions in Baghdad, and to Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the great martyr, and his Iraqi companions.
What happened today in Kerman (#Iran), and the attack against those commemorating this event, women, men, children, where there were numerous martyrs, more than 80 according to my information, and 160 injured. We extend our condolences to their families.
Hassan Nasrallah: "I will address the brothers and sisters on Friday, God willing, during a commemoration. I will discuss certain current topics on Friday instead of tonight, if God keeps me alive.
We extend our condolences to our brother, the great leader Sheikh Saleh, Vice President of the Political Bureau of Hamas, who fell as a martyr yesterday in a blatant Israeli aggression against the southern suburbs of Beirut." @lebanon
@lebanon Nasrallah denounces "a blatant Israeli attack" against the southern suburbs of #Beirut following the assassination of the number two of #Hamas.
The resistance organizations (this means HZB, Hamas, Ansar Allah) operate independently of each other, each in its own country. We consult with each other, but each one makes decisions based on its interests and those of its population."
You can call it extrajudicial killing abroad, you can call it the targeted execution of an enemy of the state, you can call it the violation of the national territory of a sovereign state, or you can just call it: international state terrorism. #HumanRights#Beirut#Israel
"#Hezbollah vows to respond to the alleged Israeli killing of #Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri outside of #Beirut earlier this evening. 'We affirm that this crime will never pass without response and punishment,' the Lebanese terror group says in a statement, claiming its fighters are at heightened readiness in order to retaliate"
"Isaac Arazi, who as former president of #Lebanon’s tiny #Jewish community led the rehabilitation of #Beirut’s abandoned Magen Avraham #synagogue, died Tuesday. He was 80.
A lawyer for the community, which numbers less than 30, confirmed his death to Agence France-Presse."
So remember I said this. Gd willing, I will be proven ridiculous: Based on what we have seen, after reading the Netanyahu family history, and based on 75 years of statements and reports, we know this doesn’t end in #Gaza. My call has already been handed : #Beirut is next on his list. A little obvious. Too obvious. Do you think we find natural gas there too? #permanentceasefire. #ceasefirenow

#CAIRO — After a long journey from #Gaza, more than 100 American citizens and their families have entered #Egypt through the #RafahCrossing. Jonathan Webster, the #USEmbassy in Cairo's consul general, said some of those families are telling him they ran out of food and water during their journeys. #Israel
#SalehAlArouri’s assassination took place in the #Hezbollah stronghold of #Beirut’s southern suburbs, even as the group has attempted to pursue a policy of supporting #Hamas in #Gaza while stopping short of triggering its own major war with #Israel.
Friday’s comments by Hezbollah’s head, #HassanNasrallah, were, however, more forceful than those made earlier this week.
#Hezbollah said that it had targeted the “enemy’s northern command centre in the city of #Safed with several drones” in retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah field commander #WissamAlTawil in #Lebanon on Monday, as well as an attack on #Hamas’s deputy leader #SalehAlArouri in #Beirut last week.
