"Eight young #Alaska residents sued the state on Wednesday seeking to block a major gas project, the latest in a string of #climate-crisis-related #lawsuits by youths arguing that government policies promoting fossil fuels violate their rights.
The lawsuit asks the court to block the Alaska #LNG project from proceeding, and to declare that a law mandating its development is unconstitutional. "
Alaska Attorney General Treg Taylor called the lawsuit “misguided” in an email, and said liquefied gas development in the state “is subject to the most stringent environmental standards in the world.”
@mivox Jealous!!!! Personally if I could only go back for a weekend I’d go to the beach overlook at Kincaid, Rustic Goat for nachos, and City Market for packaged european food (or the Midtown Sagaya for asian wares) and stock up on my favorite teas (alpine licorice & iditamint) at Summit Spice & Tea. I’d go to Kaladi because I used to work there but then I’d complain about the quality.
@Scatterseed OK, definitely skipping Kaladi then. 😂 That’s the second recommend for Rustic Goat though… dammit I just do not have enough dinner times to go everywhere!

Scientists have long warned that fossil fuel extraction must be swiftly curbed to secure a livable future. #climate#litigation#Alaska I did some fieldwork on previous climate litigation in Alaska https://eprints.qut.edu.au/118264/
