Netanyahu refused to help Ukraine while psychotic putin-russia has waged a horrific genocide against Ukraine.
Netanyahu has both a political and a personal benefit in all this. A drawn-out regional conflict would block or at least postpone any official accountability for his utter failure to prevent Hamas’s attack from happening in the first place and could also put his multiple indictments on corruption charges on an indefinite hold.

Netanyahu met with Putin on several occasions, Feb2019 in Moscow re: Syria and the Iranian presence there, relations and regional issues. Netanyahu also met with Putin on April 2016 in Moscow, where they talked about the Syrian civil war and the Golan Heights. Another meeting took place on July 2018 in Moscow, where they focused on Iran’s role in Syria and the security coordination between Israel and Russia.
@skykiss I remain skeptical that Netanyahu will gain from this, my read is that he will lose all political capital and face increasing pressure to step down in short order. His incompetence and his policies that contributed to this debacle have been widely condemned throughout Israel
There's one aspect of the attack that's too coincidental to be coincidental, the timing. The strategic objective is almost secondary to that tactical decision. This is their celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur war, to the day. All planning has been focused on this timing, and I don't know that they really have a realistic strategic objective, since they have no reserve capacity themselves, to significantly withstand a counter-attack. Even the objective of destabilization has to have an end strategy.
Is it possible that Iran's objectives have supplanted any of Hamas? That Hamas has agreed to play the pawn? In the larger geopolitical sense, all these actions ultimately accrue to Putin, in alliance with Iran (their weapons supplier), to open up a multifront conflict to stop Russia's free-fall.
Basically, what I'm saying is that Hamas might be listening to cheerleaders who really don't care who wins the Gaza game.

Netanyahu and Putin are also alligned. Iran and Putin are willing to sacrifice Palestinian. It's an axis of evil 2.0 to cause as much pain, disruption of the world order, never taking his sights from #Ukraine. When the smoke cleared the Putin proxies, Donald, Mike Johnson, and republicans had done everything possible to aid Putin very clearly in every action stemming from October 7th and pro-putin republicans have significantly harmed Ukraine by denying aid this entire time.
@skykiss IMO, this also serves to sow discord, generate breathless reporting about inevitable and largely peaceful student protests, and otherwise stir the American pot to try and make things difficult for Biden.

I suspect Bibi and Putin are both thrilled that our attention has strayed away from the war in Ukraine. I also suspect it wasn't an accident. Trump tried to stop Ukraine from fighting back right at the beginning, so I don't include them as part the distraction, at least not initially.
@Willow@skykiss These are likely Putin chess moves. Bibi has been played by Putin and is performing as anticipated, doing exactly what was expected…diverting attention and maybe US funding away from Ukraine (with help from GOP pawns).
The International Criminal Court (ICC) in March 2023 issued an arrest warrant for Russian despot Vladimir Putin.
The court alleges he is responsible for war crimes, and has focused its claims on the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.
the ICC said it had reasonable grounds to believe Putin committed the criminal acts directly, as well as working with others. It also accused him of failing to use his presidential powers to stop children being deported.
When asked about the ICC's move, US President Joe Biden said "well, I think it's justified" Putin "clearly committed war crimes", he said.
Russia's commissioner for children's rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, is also wanted by the ICC for the same crimes.
