Israeli forces are besieging al-Awda hospital in Jabalia, north of the #Gaza Strip, and treatment services cannot be provided to the injured and sick, medical sources told Wafa, the Palestinian news agency. https://english.wafa.ps/Pages/Details/144203#israelpalestine
I could go on and provide other examples, but I hope these suffice.
Going beyond denial of the use of sexual violence by Hamas, portions of the left do not want to see a two state solution ; they want to see Israel wiped off the map and in doing so are effectively lining up with Hamas. Others on the left disagree. That disagreement has caused serious splits on the left in North America and beyond -- it’s not just an invention of conservative journalists.
I’d be interested to hear more of your thoughts on Israel/Palestine and in particular any Chinese perspectives.
@jemmesedi I question if this, as Mr. Stephens insisted, is anything even remotely close to the majority view of the left.
Frankly, on any issue you can find utter fucking morons. And half of them are shrill "journalist" and "activists". They by no means reflect majority opinion, even of those broad groupings they're ostensibly a member of.
Progressives, like small-c conservatives, have really committed only one major sin: they haven't policed their crazies and are thus judged by them.
Meet the settlers targeted by Biden’s sanctions — and their victims.
Palestinians and Israelis who’ve experienced the settlers’ attacks first-hand see the move as a positive but wholly insufficient step toward accountability.
"You're making all our decisions. We have just one request of you. That while you're thinking things over, here's something you'd just better do:
Free the people...now. Do it, do it, do it, do it now!"
"So while you're jerking off each other, you'd better bear this thought in mind...
You slip & you slide down the hill, on the blood of the people you killed. Stop the killing...
now."
Someone in Israel's Army Decided to Bring This Quiet West Bank Area Into the Circle of Violence
An IDF missile fired into the center of a West Bank refugee camp killed six young people and wounded seven. The army initially denied ambulances access to the site, and Border Police beat and kicked the wounded. A few days later, troops invaded the camp again.
Hats off to the Kremlin propagandists working overtime trying to use Israel/Palestine to divide the American left and secure a win for Trump in 2024. It's clever, but it's not gonna work.
Unlike the right, we are not a cult. Criticism of Biden is not only fair, it is essential to the way the Democratic party works. "Dems in disarray" is a meme because we welcome debate.
Please keep holding Biden accountable, but remember the true Christofascist Trumpian enemy on election day.
If you want to see people engage in politics, you have to give them hope that as a leader, you can be persuaded by evidence & rational argument & public opinion, & change your mind.
And that when their views are in the majority, voters will see that reflected in government policy.
Canada should maintain its multinational approach to the Israeli GOV/Palestinian conflict by defining its own position to expressly and positively reject toxic tribalism, reaffirming its commitment to multiculturalism, and compartmentalizing itself from the American support of the Israeli GOV.
“Israel used U.S.-supplied white phosphorus munitions in an October attack in southern Lebanon that injured at least nine civilians in what a rights group says should be investigated as a war crime, according to a Washington Post analysis of shell fragments found in a small village.”
“Lot production codes found on the shells match the nomenclature used by the U.S. military to categorize domestically produced munitions…”
100 Days into the Conflict: Israel has effectively failed to achieve any objectives concerning Hamas, has retrieved no hostages, and has no practical impact on Hamas operations. Instead, the IDF has inflicted massive civilian casualties to men, women, and children. Israel has destroyed 70% of the residential stock, displaced Gaza's population, and has set Palestinians on course for a famine.
Israel's logic to the ICJ was also inherently flawed. Israel argued, in part, self-defence - which is of limited merit once one acknowledges that the IDF is an occupying force upon Palestinians.
There are reports that Israel is spending up to $269M per day - in part because thousands of Israelis have been displaced due to fighting along its borders due to its own reckless attacks into other countries.
With the Red Sea shipping lanes closing off due to occasional attacks, Israel is gassing out.
