So very pleased with how this bag came out. If I was ever to make it again, I would have matched the brown leather top stitching thread. I thought I'd like the contrast look, and I don't hate it, but matching hides a multitude of sins.
Still, this piece is a beautiful bag that is going to last me a long time.
Harris Tweed (did you know it's a protected fabric, like champagne?) and leather. With a fun canvas lining.
@dyani Oh girl I'm not even sure I could count up all the hours... many. Many many many. I did my best to take this really slow and aim for as perfect as possible.
@MsHearthWitch That's amazing! My mom and I love to marvel at the amount of hours other people can put into projects like this, because we both can't stay interested long enough to finish things. I'll send along these pics. She will be amazed!
@dyani This was definitely broken up into chunks, lol. I had the tweed cut out literally 2 yrs ago. Then cut all the other pieces out. Then just kinda slowly plugged away at it, a little section at a time.
I really like taking my time with stuff and making things that are gonna last.
@MsHearthWitch that's inspiring! i try to spread out and ration my hobbies so i don't get so deathly bored of them but they're all still little projects, not big ones like this!
@artcollisions Haha yeah. I've been crafting long enough to know that is true and that's why I just kept going even after I realized it wasn't perfect.
I may at some point in the future redo the handles if I ever get better leather-working equipment, but I'm very happy with it overall.
