Looks like a chicken/egg problem on the I-80. Sanders are needed to get the road opened again, but there is too much traffic and they can't get in to sand the road so the road can reopen, but they need the sanders to reopen the road, but the sanders can't get through (ad infinitum). #DonnerPass#CAwx#snow#blizzard
1974 Thanksgiving blizzard (24") family stuck just south of Michigan / Ohio border... old wagon. Got fuel about 30ish minutes before traffic came to stand still.
We slept overnight. Dad would run car for minutes to warm up. Then shutdown.
Sunrise we finished trip 2 hours - so plenty of fuel.
So depending on when they got fuel.
Carbon monoxide would be a concern in line of cars with drifting happening around them.
@glightly LOL, or people could check the weather and not go up there in a blizzard, and just wait a day. But NO humans can't bow to nature! WE MUST CONQUER! 🤪
