Over the past week I spent money on Unifi versions of all this tech so that we have a doorbell again (we haven't for 6 years), and while it will have a camera, that will only be for local / limited access.

Ring creeps me right out.

sdague,

@sldrant it's on its way, I'll let you know once I get it running. A friend recommended it to me .

@shekinahcancook @burger_jaap

Define very low / high temps? The cold climate heat pumps they are installing around here work great to -15F outside air temp.

If you have a meeting scheduled at 8:00 and someone writes: "Can we shift the meeting forward 30 min?" Do they want to meet at 7:30 or 8:30?

sdague,

@davidho meetings face you on the battle field. You must defeat them eyes open to live to see another day.

Today it's fire and flood on the west coast. All made much worse by #ClimateChange. These disasters keep getting worse until we stop burning fossil fuels.

How do we do that? We need policy changes to make it so everyone can transition to clean energy.

Not sure how to help with that? Join me @citizensclimate as a volunteer. We'll connect you to a local chapter and give you the skills and tools to make an impact.

While Baja and Southern California receive torrential rain, a 100 year drought snarls traffic, with 200 cargo ships waiting to pass, through the Panama Canal because there’s not enough fresh water to fill the channel from freshwater lakes.

Climate change will affect us in ways we can’t imagine. We must end fossil fuel subsidies and new drilling now.

sdague,

@georgetakei strong agree 👍.

Have you looked into @citizensclimate ? We're a group of largely volunteers working to put a price on pollution to effectively take away those subsidies. We do it through direct engagement with our elected officials. It's a great way for everyday folks to make a huge difference in addressing #ClimateChange.

This. Hotels in Maine upgrading to per room quiet heat pumps instead of noisy in wall AC units. What a great idea.

More efficient.
Quieter.
Also provides heat, so less fossil fuels for heating.

Heat pumps snuck in between rooms at a hotel in Maine.

Totally fascinating that New England ISO has had a complete turn around on the impact of rooftop solar and grid reliability by "actually studying" the impact, and realizing rooftop solar increases grid reliability.

Maybe NYISO should do the same. Have to believe results would be similar.

In the last 24 hours we got over 5 inches of rain (our rain gauge below). This is what climate change looks like in NY. These deluge events.

Much of our infrastructure (and neighborhoods) are not build for it. They can't absorb the water fast enough, making for torrential flooding.

It will only get worse while we continue to burn fossil fuels. It's time to transition to clean energy economy now.
