I now realized we passed the tenth anniversary of the FILE FORMATS WIKI without a whisper in 2022. Previously "Just Solve the Problem", the File Formats Problem (not enough documentation and links to tools) was important and big enough that it's still going!
@jaybird110127 it turned out that the file format issue was so deep and so critical I decided that the energy was just best focused there instead of chasing new highs every week
I mean, look. Rescued master tapes of interviews with the likes of Douglas Adams, Bill Gates, Atari’s Jack Tramiel, MacPaint’s Bill Atkinson, Infocom’s Joel Berez, Star Trek’s Gene Roddenberry, musician Herbie Hancock, EA’s Trip Hawkins....
They want to do it RIGHT right, so they're paying a professional to do it. The gofundme is here:
I can also say unequivocably that if I wasn't CONSTANTLY getting hints from the internet, it would be unsolvable for me. Entirely opaque. Completely impossible.
To be clear, this Nashville event was brought to you by Oscar Meyer, and so it is resplendent with Oscar Meyer commercials, but they went the extra level and the host holds up Oscar Meyer products over and over. This is 1987.
There was an air force emergency communication network called GWEN, (ground wave emergency network), there was one in Essex CA and I took many photos of the site, which was live when I first visited then deceased later, then decommisioned and the site cleared (every stick and post). It was only operational a couple years at the end of the 90s.
Well I can't find my photos, I'm fairly diligent about renaming at least some of the photos (the only photo "database" that survives the decades) and... nothing.
Went back to wikipedia and there's no photos any more.
And the site is listed as Fenner CA and it was most definitely in Essex; adjoining town, but this was IN TOWN on the main street (route 66).
