The 10K steps was originally touted by a Japanese pedometer company in the 60s, but since then at least one researcher has put it to the test - and it's actually pretty bang-on, overshooting by about 1000 steps.

Today Parliament voted on Motion #M86 for a National Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform.

The result was 102 Yes to 219 No.

Question : Do you know how Norwegians fill out their tax returns?
Answer : They don´t.

This is an oversimplification, but years ago Norwegians started to get pre-filled tax returns in the mail. Later they stopped getting them, but instead had to do an OK online. Now even that is not needed. No comment means it is is OK. You can rectify and modify details online, if needed.

The reality is that the government already had most of the data needed for most individuals. Your salary is reported by the company you work for. Your bank details, including anything you have in your accounts, any loans, stocks, bonds, etc., is reported as well. Your kids are known as well. There might be details to add, but most is known. Why waste people´s time filling out details that are already known and risk people making mistakes?

When will the US get there?

In Canada, we're literally beholden to tax preparation companies. They built an entire economy around this unnecessary work, and now the government maintains the redundancy at everyone's expense & annoyance.

I've been thinking with empathy about the quality of life a person would have to have in order to allow Elon Musk to put an experimental chip in your head. When we are looking at these stories, let's remember the serious lack of support for #disabled people in our country, both on a societal level and in terms of the dwindling social safety net. About 20 years ago I was convinced enough that our societal trend of ignoring scientific and medical advice en mass (read: / / ) would inevitably lead to the resurgence of preventable disease, such as .

I wrote Tom Brokaw Part I and Tom Brokaw Part II to explore these thoughts.

Where as in TBP I the orator can't seem to shake his "sentimental" cough, TBP II finds him perishing in a Tuberculosis wing of a hospital, as friends and family all come to visit unmasked.

Just spent an hour in a local hospital. I'm not surprised, but mine was the only #respirator is saw in the building. Everyone was either raw-dogging, or wearing a blue baggy below their nose.

Not a single nurse had even a blue baggy on.

Just went to the toilet. Wheezing and shaking and almost collapsing. Barely made it back.

The third round of COVID absolutely killed me. I can barely leave my bed, I can't do any physical task whatsoever anymore.

There is no silver lining. There is no cure in sight. All I have left to look forward to is being ground to death in the wheels of the so-called welfare state while I decay away in bed.

Here's an idea: a whole shitload of us pool together to buy a ghost town, and transform it into a model ?

A place for and people of all race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, place of birth, etc. Create a working model of cooperation and sustainability, and (hopefully) prosperity & comfort.

I lack the #spoons (as they say) to write a description that would do this masterwork - which I now hold as an unofficial compendium to #HowardZinn's #APeoplesHistoryOfTheUnitedStates - the justice it deserves.
