Some reviews of the Humane AI Pin are coming out today. I can't understand how anyone could have had any hope that this thing would even be functional, much less "good”. It's literally a device with "AI” in the name of it which is a dead giveaway that it won't work. No way a wearable, backed by any version of modern “AI” (trying not to barf here) could possibly be taken seriously as a smartphone replacement. Someone please cast this device, and preferably all AI into a proverbial mount doom.

I love Bio Menace.

But maybe love is too mundane of a word to describe my feelings for it. I give rapturous adulation to Bio Menace with maximum amourousness.

This is a DOS game. It’s fly-by-your-seat action. Never have I wanted so much to be a one-man wrecking crew in a town teeming with alien mutants.

All this time, I thought DOOM 64 was just your basic port of Doom to the Nintendo 64.

But nope! It’s got improved graphics with different level designs! It wasn’t even developed by id Software but by Midway.

An enhanced re-release to PC, made by Nightdive Studios, made me realize how different it is from Doom. Actually, it feels more like Doom with a side order of Quake.

Yet another example why #Mastodon is better than #Bluesky.
Over the last day or so, I've come across a number of disgustingly racist comments made by Iranians on Bsky towards Palestinians, Arabs and immigrants. The irony is these Iranians are against their regime, primarily because they see the regime as being too pro-Arab. When confronting them about it, they pretended to be the victims. Bluesky allows this. Imagine sharing a platform with racist trash.

#Parents of Mastodon, could you recommend a game, that is not Minecraft, or Roblox that is multiplayer that I can play with my 4 year old and 6 year old?

Mainly looking for a game for my 4 year old. He likes Minecraft, but stupidly it triggers my motion sickness. I struggle to play for longer than 15 minutes. I have to really force myself to stick around for longer than that.

I also find it incredibly boring. 😓

@mhamzahkhan Terraria is a 2D game much like Minecraft if that format is something your kids would enjoy. Might be a bit difficult for the 4yo to grasp the controls.

Look, I think Mastodon is, and by no small margin, superior in just about every way to Threads. But! Threads does have Paul McCartney, and more importantly, Threads has this (https://www.threads.net/) instantly infamous post whereby some guy named “Andrew" attempts to explain the meaning of the Beatles song "Blackbird” to Paul McCartney himself. He does this in nearly the same breath that he insults friggin' Beyonce of all people. Mind-numbing levels of insanity. 🤣

I've been listening to "The Talk Show" podcast by @gruber for years and I really enjoy it. I'd be interested to know if there was an episode where he didn't say the word “canonical”.

@gruber You've been doing the show for so long it must be many, right?😄 There are podcast transcription services out there that could probably sort out my claim pretty quick if someone was dedicated enough to do something like that.

I only notice it because it's a word I don't hear ever in regular conversation. I'm only familiar with its meaning due to my work in cybersecurity via "canonicalization attacks" (i.e. https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/what-is-canonicalization-attack/)

Hopefully you keep using the word haha 😆

@bruhbeans I think people feel more uninhibited on a platform like Lemmy, Typically, when you post on Mastodon your post will show up in the timeline for everyone who follows you and if not Unlisted, in public timelines as well. There'slemmy-worldxposure for just responding to something simple and niche. In the lemmy-world, people follow communities and view threads, not individual accounts, so they aren't typically exposed to the random commentary people have.

That I can host my little server for myself and wife, and that we can all interoperate with each other in this network where none of us control the whole. That’s worth something, it’s worth a lot!
