@Daojoan People don't have a lot of alternatives with Mozilla. Wordpress however has a thriving sleight of alternative options 🤔

@MichaelBishop @Daojoan As others have been saying, there is still technically some air gap between self-hosted WP and WP.com, but if you’re worried about how this could trickle into WP itself, you are interested in taking a principled stand, or were looking for any reason to try something new, (and you have time to stand something new up) there are some good options out there. Static site generators (which I use one of) are very popular and imo pretty easy - e.g. Eleventy, Hugo and Jekyll.

I have been redesigning my website quite a bit today, funnily enough I realized @amin is doing it too lol.

For now I am getting rid of a bunch of divs with classes and replacing them with html elements such as aside and article. Trimming down the CSS I have to do for many classes into just a few niche cases :P

@ben Do you see a distinction between your "asides" and what IndieWeb.org describes as a "note" https://indieweb.org/note? I also see "asides" as a little namespace conflict-ey with <aside> https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/aside. Regardless, I love folks adding short-form content to their site so I'm here for it either way. Cheers!
