I was unable to push an archive build in #Xcode until I removed some preview content? The build otherwise works fine until I try an archive. Something feels wrong there but I don’t have time to do more than comment out the “offending” code
I've been #programming a long time and I still find it amazing how the mind can solve complex problems when you take a break. Spent hours on non-working, hacks only to finally resolve it in minutes after sleeping or taking a walk. The mind is amazing
This morning it's taking longer for #Xcode to update the cache symbols on my iPhone than it did to update my code with a fix.
Other people with iPhone 14 Pro…how's your battery max capacity holding up? Mines down to 87% after just over a year, and it's really noticeable. Regular iPhone 14s my kids got at the same time are still ~96%.
Just came across a news site that put up the “please disable your adblocker” dialog but only over a video. The text was completely visible. I see this as a big win.
This new Slack redesign is great if you hate screen space, clarity, contrast, ease of use, information hierarchy, messages, channels, and communication
@JPEGuin are you referring to to MapKit via UIViewRepresentable? I’ve done quite a bit of work with that. I’m not certain the new SwiftUI map updates support clustering. I believe they don’t?
@michaelsteeber@JPEGuin really wish I could use the new SwiftUI map stuff but it’s still missing too much. This waiting years for a mostly complete API from Apple gets very frustrating
I know it’s not a popular opinion but I hope Apple never goes back to stage presented Apple Events. These produced ones are just better in every way. Focused, quick - all signal and no noise. #AppleEvent
@gedeonm while I agree with you on this, I would not have used “quick” to describe today’s event. I think a combination of rumors ruining things and product maturity is making these events a lot less exciting as the years go on and thus a bit of a slog in spots
@arstechnica What if all these leagues followed the lead of MLS and gave fans a single option to see all the content? Imagine if a league like the NHL didn't require 4-5 different paid services in order to attempt to watch all the games. I suspect the market for illegal content would shrink considerably.
@tewha@joshdholtz@_inside ahh. I just downloaded the most recent virtualbuddy release for the first time a few days back and was impressed with how easy it was. Good luck.
Swift Macros seem amazing and really speak to me as a programming nerd. But if I empathize with beginning programmers even for a second, I'm horrified. Swift has spiraled inexorably into impossible to understand territory. I used to defend it as a beginner's language but it's harder and harder to do so.
@gedeonm if past history is any indication, if they don't achieve world peace during the keynote the stock will drop immediately following then it will go back to new highs a week or two later
Friends in native iOS development. I’d love advice.
I’ve been writing code for over two decades, but never native iOS. Nor C. Nor anything related. But I’m beginning the journey.
Can you recommend a favorite resource for helping folks begin from the ground floor? I can spend all day in an editor and my terminal. But Xcode and iOS is an entirely new world for me.
@markwyner can’t vouch for recent versions but I got a lot from Big Nerd Ranch books long ago. Also adding my vote for any of @twostraws content. The 100 days series are very good
I'm trying to determine if there is a regional/cultural difference of opinion in something. Imagine in your mind a numeric wheel counter (like you'd have in an old cars odometer or those hand counters you'll see people use at doors to events). It is currently showing 0001. From which direction would you expect the "2" to appear when it rotates in to replace the "1":
