Looks like it's coded slightly differently (the others pull in currency dynamically, the Business account doesn't).

This is the sort of thing I'm seeing in terms of some sites tanking.

First image is @sistrix visibility data for a domain (kindly noted by @stevechippy).

The second image is their 'programmatic SEO' approach to building pages with 'Fitting Instructions' on a subdomain, with product links and ZERO useful information. Purely for ranking purposes.

Published in 2021 but they "haven't got to it yet". 🤔

An example of a useless "Fitting Instructions" page on the site in question, posted in 2021 yet still incomplete with "We haven't got to this one yet, sorry!" messaging

I often feel a little uncomfortable with some of the glee people display when sites get smashed with updates or manual actions.

Some of the more visible pushers of bad practices probably deserve it more. Some of the should know better but do it anyway for gAinZ™ bro crowd too.

But there's a large section of real people put real effort into something, their 'crime' being listening to the wrong person, without the knowledge to really know they were the wrong person.

@simoncox @dwsmart I'm definitely guilty of a little too much glee... though it is mostly focussed on those I feel do deserve it.

Mostly, it's because I know how those that have 'bent the rules' (putting it lightly) have, effectively, been stealing traffic from those that haven't for far too long.

That's the thing with SEO - it's always a zero sum game.

I guess (as ever) it comes down to money. Sure a metaphorical stitch today, to save you nine tomorrow is sensible... but when budgets are tight you bet the non-sexy stuff (like infosec) is gonna get cut first.

Hindsight is always 20/20 - but 100% there are other similar institutions out there in a similar (likely worse) situation - and probably unaware... until brown stuff heads towards spinny things.

Did a load of changes to a client site yesterday and deployed it - all happy.

Had a thought this morning and made 1 little change and somehow I have 34 merge conflicts in git and none of it makes any sense. I should just roll back to yesterday and create a new local copy.

I should stick to memes.

Still one of my biggest eyeroll moments in #seo - #Google Business Profiles showing maps that look like this for UK businesses.

Both because the website owners should spot this and work out how to fix it.

But mostly because this is just a silly oversight by Google which could be easily fixed.

@ilovechoclates_ The few I checked at random were all 404s.

There may be some clever backdoor/cloaking going on - but I suspect the domain owners belatedly clocked this and decided to kill the entire subdomain - hence the 404s.
