A couple months ago, I went to this VR experience and one of the walls was a timeline of stereoscopic, 3D, and VR devices and concepts through the ages

The earliest stereoscope was invented in the early 1830s. I find it fascinating how humans have been interested in 3D/depth imagery

Then, just recently I happened to stumble upon something in an antique store…

Focusing on the left side of the timeline wall of devices, we see at the top left the stereoscope made of wood with a paper insert.

I’d love the (probable) incoming labour government to renationalise the railways and water, tax the rich, build houses, recognise Palestine, fix the nhs, rejoin the EU… in reality they probably aren’t going to do any of that and will generally be a disappointment. But I think we can be certain they can’t make anything worse.

@designatednerd The election is the 4th, and much like the US, I’m excited for independence from the super rich Tory prime minister!
The slightly weird way we do elections here means we count overnight and there’s a slow drip of results. In an election where there’s a good chance of a change it means you get to see people becoming unemployed in real time. It’s great fun!

Successfully:

  1. Drove a car for three days on the opposite side of the road as I’m used to without getting in any accidents or blowing a tire running into a curb like I did in Scotland.
  2. Walked along the cliffs of Dover without falling off them.

It turns out the way to get me to do literally anything is to offer me a minuscule chance of winning a ticket to Glastonbury. I’ve purchased cheese, tea, chocolate, and have a fridge full of cider I’m encouraging my wife to drink for me. I follow people who make wellies, a bus company, and some kind of fizzy vitamins on Instagram. Yet shockingly no one has yet given me a ticket.

@cjwirth Yes, we have a similar game we call ’rounders’ that’s basically baseball but with a smaller bat. It’s played at school and family picnics. I think the kind of places you might get kickball!

@cjwirth Yeah, I’ve always assumed kickball = soccer. But I realised when reading it in a book the other day that I actually wasn’t sure.
I do not hold the word soccer against Americans, I know it’s the ‘proper’ word!

That Microsoft considered protecting DRM content before protecting users in their new keylogger really shouldn’t be shocking, but somehow was. Classic capitalism.

In a move that will surprise no one, there has clearly been zero thought of the abusive partner scenario for this feature. Not only that, I can’t envisage a way the feature can be made safe for someone in an abusive/controlling relationship.

Another shocking thing for me in Microsoft’s statement is the phrase “when sites do not follow standard internet protocols like cloaking password entry”.
The ability to optionally show the content of a password field is an accessibility feature. Microsoft is saying here that if you have a cognitive impairment then it’s your own fault if you get your passwords stolen.

I've just been watching loads of #SuperBooth footage and was aghast at how overwhelmingly white the whole thing is. I've seen more diversity at EDL marches.
