@hosford42 @misty oh man, that's the default on so many sites nowadays, for various reasons. One of them being pre-video ads. Autoplay triggers those ads, which means more 💰
I'd turn off my sound I guess.

@Edent we'll see. It's not like there haven't been attempts. But it's always so much handier to edit code as a text file, instead of clicking around in some visual editor.
Same goes for reading code imo.

@Edent maybe. I always found the visual things hard to read, because a few lines of code end up being a bunch of blocks with lines in between and quickly spawn over multiple screens when the code gets bigger and more complex.
I'm thinking things like SQL server SSIS and Selligent workflows.
The stuff of nightmares.

@Edent you know what's also great about simple text files? There are so many tools that allow you to manipulate them so easily. Searching with grep, editing with powerful editors like Vim, you can index them for search, you can generate them with shell scripts.

So unless those visual tools end up producing text files, I don't think it's ever going to take off.

Too many people are focusing on #decentralization (prevention of takeover) as the most important thing about Mastodon. Here's why I think that's wrong: even a decentralised network can be a "freeze peach" cesspit of hatred, just like Twitter and other libertarian techbro social networks, if it chooses to be. @zeioth just tried this out on an old phone (oneplus 3) and I'm getting an error because "expect" is missing. It doesn't find the package, apparently.
Any idea what could be causing that? Do I need to setup extra package repo's oslt in termux?

@zeioth yes, that was it. Had to get the f-droid version. 🤦‍♂️
It installed a bunch of stuff, but now I ran into an issue with ssh-keygen.
The openssh package is installed, so I'm not sure what's wrong here.

@zeioth found it (thx SO). Had to install openssl-tool, and run pkg update.
Maybe pkg update would've also fixed the first error. 🤷‍♂️
