No shocker - I hate the way it incorporates with the #fediverse as a whole and, at least currently, feels like it's working in (ish) bad faith.. that may change, but for now they are simply using us as potential eyeballs to boost their engagement numbers (esp for their "big accounts")
BUT...
From my experience, it beats the absolute pants off of #BlueSky in terms of actual "topic" interaction
There are toxic folk here for sure, but the majority seem to leave quickly because of a smaller userbase, domain blocking, and unwillingness to "feed" them.
I have a small but great handful of folks I'm quite active here with .. it's sadly reduced over the last year, but the interaction here for me has always been more positive as a whole.. think I'll hang a round a bit longer.. π
@multiverseofbadness@jacklaridian There's a strong core here that can be foundational for later, but some folks have left and some check-in periodically (I turn on notifications for when they post, so I don't miss them).
It's amazing that you can still learn seemingly obvious things as an adult

..because if half the sectional shits the bed and your genius idea of "just use the other half of until it breaks down as well" is poorly received by your spouse, you have to replace the entire thing ...
The thing that bums me out most about the #Fediverse is the high churn rate
There's a combination of reasons for that of course, but the end result is still a loss of lots of engaging people with interesting things to say and that sucks
@multiverseofbadness I don't really have any major issues with the Mastodon software, especially when coupled with 3PP apps. It does about 95% of what I want it to do.
Been a couple of months since I cleared out my #Mastodon#favorites list and removed all of the inactive accounts....
...and I've come to the disappointing revelation that I'm likely the reason people continue to leave the #socialmedia portion of the #fediverse... π

New Thotness : a legitimate focus on prioritizing manageable #moderation tools for instance operators instead of the current "here's a moderation hammer so treat everything like a basic ass nail" tools most generally in place
