No shocker - I hate the way it incorporates with the #fediverse as a whole and, at least currently, feels like it's working in (ish) bad faith.. that may change, but for now they are simply using us as potential eyeballs to boost their engagement numbers (esp for their "big accounts")
BUT...
From my experience, it beats the absolute pants off of #BlueSky in terms of actual "topic" interaction
@jacklaridian@multiverseofbadness I've seen the BS numbers (sub 1M posts per day), but I didn't really experience them until I bridged my Fediverse account the other day and took a look at some BS accounts that I thought left here for there. They haven't posted in weeks or even months.
..and the few "big accounts" there feel like NFL strike replace players from years ago
It will all get really interesting if Bluesky corp funding dries up and AT Protocol (which is currently only Bluesky from what I can tell) has to develop on its own merit like ActivityPub does...

I feel like there's a social media schism now, since Twitter fell. I couldn't tell you where most of the people are anymore. If you ask about threads, most people are like, 'What's Threads?'
I think most celebrities just gave up on everything but IG. 🤔
@jacklaridian@multiverseofbadness Some decamped to FB and IG, but I think most people went back to Twitter or just quit microblogging. Of the commercial Twitter-clones, I think they're all going to fail except for maybe Threads (but that's just because it's an extension of IG rather than it's own merits).
@Tim_Eagon@multiverseofbadness I was catching up with someone I hadn't seen in years and she was like, 'You completely disappeared from social media!!' I was like, 'Yeah, it's just too toxic. I'm on Mastodon, though.' She's like, 'What's Mastodon?' and I was like, That's exactly why I like it.' 😅
There are toxic folk here for sure, but the majority seem to leave quickly because of a smaller userbase, domain blocking, and unwillingness to "feed" them.
I have a small but great handful of folks I'm quite active here with .. it's sadly reduced over the last year, but the interaction here for me has always been more positive as a whole.. think I'll hang a round a bit longer.. 😂
@multiverseofbadness@jacklaridian There's a strong core here that can be foundational for later, but some folks have left and some check-in periodically (I turn on notifications for when they post, so I don't miss them).
