Does anybody know if there’s a traditional composite material that behaves something like fibreglass? As in fibre/fabric laid up in a binder of some sort to make a stiff material in arbitrary forms.

Paper mache is one but it’s too weak (I think, maybe there's a super version?). I'm considering things like cotton or flax in casein glue or pine resin... but I doubt it will work.

(And my last casein glue experiment stunk like rotten milk for weeks!)

@john I'm not sure how it's called in English (or Dutch for that matter ), but artists working with textiles use a specific kind of glue to fixate shapes. I looked it up: one of those is called Paverpol textile hardener

I need some tech advice: I have some .usdz files I made of my grandfather’s wood carvings, and I'd like to put them online.

The javascript USDz viewers are making my head hurt, and maybe I should be using a different format anyway. Is there a standard way of doing this?

@redegelde @metin Ja. Op facebook waar ik hem aantrof was iedereen tegen, maar dit soort toepassingen is mi echt wat anders. En nog kun je zien dat het ai is (de belichting en het materiaalgebruik is heel herkenbaar), dus op dit moment kun je er nog niet veel mee

@metin @redegelde eens. Maar soms kan dit wel handig zijn, als ideeënboost bv. Plus ik vermoed dat een hoop van de mensen die nu hard nee schreeuwen er stiekem wel gebruik van gaan maken.

Weer eens een vleesvervanger geprobeerd. Redefine meat, pulled beef. Zogenaamd niet van hetgeen het na probeert te doen te onderscheiden. Het kan zijn dat ik erg goed smaken, geuren en texturen kan onderscheiden, maar het rook naar chocolade, smaakte nergens naar (nu ja. Naar de boemboe die ik gemaakt had..) en voelde als een spons. Een spons met een bite, maar toch. Een spons.

Het lukt gewoon niet hè.

@metin ja, verschrikkelijk jammer. Het smaakte uiteindelijk wel lekker hoor, maar dat kwam vooral door mijn eigen boemboe, niet door de vleesvervanger. Soms zit er wat lekkers tussen, ik probeer het af en toe, een vleesvervanger, maar tot nu toe is gewoon noten (de bekende cashewnoten uit mijn studietijd) gebruiken nog steeds het lekkerste.
