@noplasticshower I lived in the SF Bay Area for 10 years. Never felt an earthquake. Moved to North Carolina. Finally felt an earthquake here in Durham somewhere between maybe 10 to 14 years ago. Earthquake was centered in Virginia. 😂

@ai6yr There's prior art on this. :) I remember someone running a dedicated 386 (?) PC with homebrew hardware & software to keep out their cat when its profile was changed by carrying something in (like a bird). This also kept out other animals like, say, raccoons. I read about this in a magazine article, IIRC.
