You receive a call on your phone.
The caller says they're from your bank and they're calling about a suspected fraud.

"Oh yeah," you think. Obvious scam, right?

The caller says "I'll send you an in-app notification to prove I'm calling from your bank."

Your phone buzzes. You tap the notification This is what you see.

Still think it is a scam?

@Edent

I'm at the point where I assume everything is a scam. I got a call from someone claiming to be a postal cop. I told him to eff off, post office doesn't call people and hung up.

Later I learned that in fact he was telling the truth, but understood my skepticism. (It was related to the theft of a mail piece.)

But even still I think the right scam at the right time would fool me.

I thought Sandra Bollocks cried a lot in Gravity. JLop outdoes her with the histrionics in Atlas, however. Holy fuck, can she just stop blubbing for 5 bloody minutes. I hate these movies (does it show). Give me Alien for a strong scifi female lead.

Would "The Old Guard" be considered sci-fi? If so, my vote is for Charlize Theron. She's great in action movies.

Ok, I'm not understanding why people want to delete or change their StackOverflow answers so that they contain errors to throw off the LLMs. StackOverflow is a valuable resource for human coders and it's not like we thought we were going to make any money by posting those answers - that was never the point. If LLMs are going to be trained on those answers then I want them to be accurate because it's kind of inevitable at this point.

By making a series of cuts and folds in a sheet of paper, Baker found she could produce two planes connected by a complex set of thin strips. Without the need for any adhesive like glue or tape, this pattern created a surface that was thick but lightweight. Baker named her creation Spin-Valence. Structural tests later showed that an individual tile made this way, and rendered in steel, can bear more than a thousand times its own weight.

The Drug Enforcement Administration will move to loosen restrictions on marijuana in what would be a historic shift in federal drug policy, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

The measure, if enacted, would not instantly legalize marijuana at the federal level but could broaden access to the drug for medicinal use and boost cannabis industries in states where it is legal.

jamesbritt,

Prediction (if it isn't happening already):

Brian Eno said that things that past generations viewed as unwanted media qualities (tape hiss, record crackles, color shifts on Kodachrome over time, film grain, MP3 compression artifacts) become for later generations desirable aesthetic choices to employ.

So, at some point, artists will deliberately recreate the things we now treat as markers of AI-made content.

Might already be happening.
